This bill will cause a street based revolution. It is that bad. |
Q: shouldn’t the house just vote on the senate version of the bill after it passes, without reconciliing it with the house version? The house GOP can afford to lose some more votes while the senate GOP can’t. |
McConnell came out earlier today and said that they had the votes to pass this travesty of a bill. If that is true, then why haven't they voted yet? |
They're going to vote tonight. Here's a last minute thing slipped in - a provision that benefits only ONE college in the US, a conservative college linked to DeVos. Who knows how many other such surprises will be in it: http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/362896-dems-knock-toomey-over-proposed-college-provision-in-tax-plan |
How did I blow my cover? I said right up front that I am the Republican conversing with the Democrat. I never claimed to be a Democrat. |
....continuing....I get it now. There were two of us. One said, I am the Democrat, and the other - ME - said "I am the Republican with whom you've been conversing." You got the posts mixed up. My last one was about Obamacare, but again....I said I was a Republican. Look upthread, and you'll see it word-for-word. But it is interesting how quickly you want to "catch" a Republican in what you wrongly concluded was a lie. You must be one of the nasty liberals. And to think, I was enjoying my discussion with the respectful Democrat, and then one of you nasty ones has to come along again. You can apologize for your mistake. |
The CBO score of the revised Senate tax bill just landed. It raises 10-year deficits by $1.474 trillion.
https://www.cbo.gov/system/files/115th-congress-2017-2018/costestimate/53362-summarysenatereconciliation.pdf Fiscal conservatives, LOL. |
This is what drives me bonkers. The blatant hypocrisy of the GOP. ![]() |
As if dems are any better. Lol. |
Wow. That is particularly foul. They get agreement from senators who know this thing is garbage and then slip in more trash after that? I’m trying to recall any Republican scheme over the last 20 years that actually brought benefit to constituents and I’m coming up blank. Anyone? |
Flake and Collins - wtf? Their reasoning was poor |
Headline from Washington Post:
"Senate GOP tax bill passes in major victory for Trump, Republicans" Tax legislation passed by 51-49 votes with only Corker voting against it. |
I am glad Trump voters will finally face the repercussions of their choices. We saved healthcare for them and still they support this mess. Let it destroy them. |
1) the dems have never cast themselves as fiscal conservatives 2) for the most part, when the dems have raised budget items, it is usually to invest in people - healthcare, education etc What the GOP has done is blown a hole in the budget so billionaires can pay less in taxes. What is the societal benefit, particularly since corporations are turning record breaking profits and the stock market has been riding highs based on those earnings and unemployment is basically at all time lows. What problem were the trying to solve? |
Wow. So insane. |
