What's the creepiest/weirdest thing you've ever seen?

When we were teenagers, my brother and I lost a very close friend. He worked in the family business and was married with one son. His wife was pregnant with another child.
The friend's death was tragic, poor guy was riding his bike to the gym around 7pm when someone coming out of an underground parking garage hit him. He died from his injuries 3 days later. We were all devastated and heartbroken. About a week later, I'm sleeping on my couch late in the afternoon when all of a sudden I dream of seeing my friend standing in our hall closet. The door is slightly open and I can just barely make him out in between the crack in the door frame by the hinges. I'm lying down on the same couch in my dream and my recently past friend isn't saying anything. So I call out to him and say 'Hey, is that you?'- I say in my dream. And he responds- 'you can see me?!' With a mix of happiness and astonishment. I say 'yes! Why?' At the point I wake up and I'm lying down at the exact position like in my dream and the closet door is open the same way. Even the sunlight coming through the windows are the same.
It was unsettling but oddly reassuring at the same time.

I felt a hand grip my leg and squeeze tightly. I loudly said "Ok, I'll stop reading cut it out!" I thought it was my sister or mom that snuck in my room. Instead of letting go they squeezed more tightly. I rolled my eyes and threw back the covers to find no one. The door was heavy and made noise if you opened and closed it, but it was still shut and locked (i was a tween and locked my door at night to avoid my sisters jumping on me to wake me up). You could see if the door was locked from the bed. I was so freaked out I ran to my sisters' rooms to see if they had somehow grabbed my leg, but they were both sound asleep. My parents were also sound asleep. I turned on every light in the house and no one else was there. I was then extremely afraid.

The next morning I told our housekeeper who told me that the house was supposedly haunted by the spirit of a man who had been murdered after one of his employees discovered he had molested their daughter. The house and grounds were gorgeous but I never felt comfortable there again. I was not sorry when my parents sold the place a few years ago and never stayed there by myself.

I don't want to rain on your spooky story parade (it's probably true!) but that also sounds like it could have been a brief episode of sleep paralysis. It happened to me once and I felt a very strong pressure on my chest, couldn't move, and "felt"/mentally saw a terrible witch sneaking up behind me in my bed.

Not oP, but if you read through it, you'll notice she wasn't even asleep in the first place, for this to be sleep paralysis

I second sleep paralysis/night terror. You feel like you're fully awake, but you're actually not. And the room, surroundings, body position, etc is the same in both dream and reality. They're really unsettling experiences.

One time I was in my bedroom and I felt someone grab my shoulder. I turned around and no one was there.

Another time I saw an older very tall man standing by my daughters bedroom door. The creepiest part was that she was about 4 and she came walking out of her room and walked around him looking up smiling.

I hope was sleep paralysis, but seriously I was turning pages and reading. Still I'm comforted by the thought it might have been just sleep paralysis!!!!!!

This story isn't super duper creepy but I thought I would post it anyway. The reincarnation stories reminded me of it.

About five years ago, I was a nanny to a baby. The dad's mom was getting ready to move, so she was clearing out clutter from her house. She gave the dad a painting of the dad's great great grandfather. The great great grandfather looked JUST LIKE the dad. The resemblance was so strong it was creepy. The painting was about 11" by 14" in size. The baby's parents set the painting on a shelf in the living room. It was like great great grandpa / baby daddy was staring at us 24/7.

This happened last night.

I hit the garage button on my way inside the house. Saw it go down. Sat down and thought I heard the door go up. I just kind of let it go. Later after dark I went out to check and the door was up. I hit the button again, watched it go down. Went inside, waited, it went up again.

My husband checked to make sure nothing was blocking the light at the bottom, nothing on the door rubber, hit the button, watched it go down. Checked before I went to bed, it was down. Got up at 3 am to use the bathroom, damn door was up ! WTF ? I put it down, husband said it was down when he got up.

I have no idea what that was about but it scared me because I knew someone that was assaulted and robbed in her home via an unlocked garage door.
I am obsessed with safety.

Never had this happen before. I'm thinking tonight I will manually unlatch the lever.

When I was a small child I knew I was reincarnated and I wondered why none of the grown ups ever asked me about when I was big, or talked about their past lives either.

That's part 1. Part 2 of this story is that my dad passed away just when my sister found out she was pregnant with her first. Ever since my nephew was born, he is incredibly like my dad. We were at a cousin's wedding and I asked my 4 yr old nephew what his favorite instrument is. He said 'the accordion.'

My dad played the accordion since childhood - it was an ethnic thing. He never played it as an adult and nobody else plays it now. There is no reason for my nephew to pick that instrument as his favorite.

It was spooky, but fun too. My dad was a scientist and never entertained ideas like reincarnation so it amuses me to speculate how annoyed he would be to find out he was wrong.

This is actually not an that uncommon of thing. Sounds like someone else who lives nearby has a garage door opener that is on your same frequency. So when they push their garage door opener button, your garage door mechanism will activate. It's happened to us before

When I was a young child, probably under 5, I had several moments where I had this really unexplainable feeling of the greater universe and how small I was, and yet felt on the verge of understanding it thoroughly. These would be brief, maybe a minute or two, and I would try to talk to my mom about it. Some of my friends have also said they had this same thing happen to them when they were little.
Now with all this reincarnation stuff on this thread (which I have come to believe in more and more the older I get), I wonder if that feeling had something to do with connecting my past life to the present.

Um yeah, y'all live with some serious anxiety. There is nothing creepy about this unless you saw a man standing outside your garage door creepin' on you.

The superstition on this thread has me worried for humanity.

Not creepy, but kind of weird.

My sister is adopted, so we share no "blood." We are not at all alike. We see each maybe every 4-5 years. My DD is now 20. She is VERY much like my sister. Looks a LOT like her, has the same mannerisms, similar personality. It is like she is her aunt's child. It amazes me so much.

When I was a tween (we didn't call it that back then!), I got a book from the book fair about dreams and what they mean, etc. It was actually very deep and inspired me to keep a dream journal. I kept reading the book, and one afternoon was home alone, reading the book and fell asleep on the couch. I woke up and felt really wierd. Off. I walked outside, don't know why. I felt a panic. I didn't know if I was awake or asleep. I thought maybe asleep and all of a sudden it *terrified* me to think anything scary could pop up, and yet I felt all the reality of being so awake. I must have just been dreaming about dinosaurs (thanks Jurassic park), and I was so afraid they would show up. Full of straight up fear of dinosaurs. It sounds silly, but even if you as an adult really felt that, you'd be scared out of your mind. Again, no one was home so I was even more afraid. I ran back inside and 'woke up.' I hid that book somewhere because i never wanted to find it again. Creepily I could never find it, even though I wanted to a few years later. I have no idea why I wanted to hide it, persay, or where I put it.

Fast forward to several years ago and I heard of lucid dreaming. I think that's what was happening. It was a scary feeling at my age.

I'll add: when Newtown happened, I heard about Lanza being interested I lucid dreaming. I think the news mentioned it but not much was made of it. However, I knew my young experience, and I knew the strange feeling it can cause. My heart breaks for all involved, and I just want to say that if believe if lucid dreaming was related somehow.

I heard something about navy yard too, and it pricked my ear. (And I'm sorry if anyone you know was affected in that.) I don't bring these up to politicize or to hurt. Just found a connection to my experience in those events, and many people missed that detail, but I sure noticed.

Last little comment on this topic, I promise. Or else I'll get kicked off to start a new forum.
I found sources re: loughner the Arizona shooter. And I found mention of Adam Lanza in one article but not more than a mention
Obviously there are mental issues like schizophrenia, etc. but I think a few have had interest in lucid dreaming, and it's strange to me having had a negative experience. And seeing mention of it over the years in mass shootings. Ok I'm officially done with this topic now.
