What's the creepiest/weirdest thing you've ever seen?

My husband's grandmother (who is pushing 100) believes our daughter might be the reincarnation of one of her grandchildren who died of a drug overdose the year before our daughter was born.

She asked how old I was, and then she said, "Before, I was a big girl too." I asked what she meant by "Before". She said, "Before. When I was a big girl and was in a car. The car went boom and had a big fire. Then I was a baby and came here." She was so matter of fact about it, it was creepy as hell.

My DD is always talking about her grandpa, one lives overseas and she's never met him. The other she met once when she was 6 months old.

Yesterday she said her grandpa found me in a box, and I was crying and he took me away. She also said grandpa got killed in a car crash.

These two stories are wigging me out. Apparently when I was a kid I did and said a lot of things that led my parents and grandparents to believe I was reincarnated. These were religious people but they couldn't reconcile the things I said and knew with my age and life experiences. I had forgotten those memories until reading this post.

My family believes in things like this. We always have. It does feel strange, but I believe children are closer to the spirit world than adults and they do remember things. And DD talks about her grandpa all the time. So, I had to ask her again last night.

Me: What happened to your grandpa?
DD: He died. In the hospital.
Me: Then what happened?
DD: I met you.
Me: I'm glad God sent me to you.
DD: Me too.

There are a few good books about children who (seem to) remember their past lives... the one I read was called "Old Souls" but there are several... fascinating!

In the book you read... how long do these children retain their memories of past lives? I'm the poster with the 2.5yo DD who talked about dying in a car accident/fire, and just very curious. She's never mentioned it again, and now, at 6yo, she would probably look at me like I were insane if I asked her. I'd like to chalk it up to just toddler imagination, but what she described was awful, and I don't know how she would have come up with that.

NP here. From what I've read about these children with past-life memories it goes away around age 4. I think it is debatable if you encourage it in the 3 year old time frame that you may get more details and it may solidify in their memory, but general consensus is that without more, most kids have totally lost all recollection between the 4-5 year span.

My son also used to talk about a prior life when he was around 3. He said he lived in NY, told us how many siblings he had, etc. By age 4 or 5, it stopped.

I'm the original "Old Souls" poster and I agree with the 2 posters above, I believe around 5 they stop remembering and/or talking about it.

We should video the two year olds talking about it before they forget.

My friend's husband gazed into the abyss and the abyss gazed back.

Was he a vampire??

When I was in college my roommates and I rented a townhouse and rotated every 6 months who lived in basement. One night (now living in basement) I woke up it was pitch black and I was certain a man was standing at the end of my bed. I felt deep terror and fear and than suddenly a whoosh and a being hugging me so warmly and tight than off gone. What had been terror became calm. I never knew what it was but must have been a presence of sorts.

Years later I have two daughters, am giving youngest a bath (she's maybe 3) she points to the ceiling and says, "they want to play with me". I got chills and took her out of the bath, really bad feeling. We rarely use that bath now (she is 10).

My little brother when he was 4 was afraid of planes. We lived near an airport. He also hada Germanic like accent and said that he was dead before (which I took to meant previous life, I am 18 years older).

When I was about 2.5 my mom walked into my room in the morning. I was standing up waving to the side of the room and said "Bye Lord!"

While pregnant with twins I was jolted awake in the night by the voice of a little boy saying "Thank you" close above my head on my left. It was so real that my heart was racing and it took awhile to calm down. The weird part is that my babies were sick, the baby on the left particularly, and I was going first thing the next morning for emergency surgery. At the ultrasound before the procedure the doctor said they were 1-2 days from dying. Both babies pulled through.

And she left the room. Breastfeeders, there IS actually a difference between breastfeeding and breast sucking. One is for your husband, not your child.

It's called comfort nursing. Even infants suck when no milk is coming out before letdown. Scarier still are your hangups.

It's called replacing your husband with your kids.

Now THAT'S a hang up, you weirdo.
