VYS Soccer - better or worse?

Not PP, but our coach was fired unexpectedly. I wasn't happy about it but have been very pleased with the replacement. Overall the Spring has had a much more positive feel to it as compared with the Fall.

The new VYS Travel tryouts Web site reflects considerable time and effort, perhaps symbolizing some new emphasis or level of commitment or possibly just an upgrade in the organization's Web design skills. Thoughts or advice on the upcoming VYS tryouts???

Why is their crossover program only 5 weeks long this spring?

I have to say that our assistant (volunteer) coaches have also stepped up. Much, much better than the fall season!

However, when we heard of the increase in fees, we had no idea the winter was now separate. It was also prior to the coach debagle. Things may not have been perfect a year ago but they were significantly better. It made us nervous when abrupt changes were made and things became questionable with transparency. We are happy at our new club. Is it perfect? No. Every youth sports clubs are going to have politics. parents that believe that their ideas about what is best for their child are actually best for everyone. When that happens, and the parents are very strong personalities, the likelihood of something like what is happening in VYS is very lossible. We saw the writing on the wall. But I sincerely hope that VYS can find its way. It has potential to be a great club again...
Long story short, the past may not have been as great as I remember, but it certainly was a pretty good experience. Better than the reports here sound to be there today.

Very impressed with spring program in our age group. We had a few major changes (new ATD, new coaches) and it has worked out well. More cohesiveness between head coaches and assistants. My child is having a much better season and no longer vents about how kids are not paying attention at practice. New coach has great rapport with kids and parents.

How many kids are registered for Cross Over this Spring?

The assistant technical directors, some of whom are quite good, look likely to stay.

Gunney was never a good fit. His experience is coaching pros and a pro academy. He might be fine at a small travel-only club. Not a full-sized club like Vienna.

This has been true for my son as well.

Hopefully, the replacement for Gunney will be a better fit and not quite so tone deaf. He wasn't a bad guy, but not right for VYS.

The Vienna Technical Director just quit! I don't think people were surprised! Also, I heard that VYS families do not like the VYS Girls Assistant Director. Looks like his players are trying out for other clubs. When is the final shoe gonna drop for VYS?

Hello again, Mr. Former VYS Coach. We apologize that the club hasn't completely self-destructed in your absence. You may be surprised to learn that parts of it are running quite well.

Jesus, VYS loves its drama. To the parents posting, you simply make your club look bad and what coaches would ever want to come to your club the way you all run your mouths?

This thread is for people to discuss VYS. If you don't like it, don't read it. And by the way, coaches won't want to come because they may be randomly fired like the ones over the winter were...

I'm just telling you how you come off to both outsiders and potential coaches, parents etc that might be interested in your club. Feel free to name names and air your dirty laundry, but understand that the image you put out is not at all positive.

You are correct, I don't have to read it, but I have, and I already have my opinion of your club and that is the point.
