Yeah, and I'm hoping he also finds out what's going on with the old "Babe's Billiards" space: hopefully another "mini-towncenter" type thingy with modern apartment living on top and upscale yet quirky shops on the bottom.

It would be nice if there were "quirky" shops. But the usual course with these mixed use developments is that the investor group wants to lease to chains and similar deep pocketed businesses.

The problem IIUC is that the lenders want financially safe businesses of commercial tenants. That said quite few new mixed use developments end up with either established local chains, or sometimes upscale independents as tenants. Quirky really needs old buildings though. So you need to wait for these buildings to age.

Like...in Petworth, where the SCHOOLS aren't as good?

One thing PoPville might be good for now is to let the high school kids know where the newest retail jobs are, as PoP covers his beat around Van Ness.

The people from pet worth who send their kids OOB in wotp schools seem to tolerate the schools just fine, all the way to high school.

Thanks

I locked that thread and told everyone to join this thread (the other one had basically become a run-of-the-mill Hardy bashfest). So, I'm giving some leeway on this thread.

Welcome to anyone joining the neighborhood, regardless of previous bloggering! Will be great if he blogs about Woodley and on up the redline, we shall see...

WAMU story here. Doesn't say much of anything that wasn't reported elsewhere.

I stopped reading that blog because he censored any comment that doesn't agree with him no matter how respectfully it is written. I can give my clicks and traffic to someone else.

Ha ha, I think this Washingtonian article was based on this thread.

Can't find it in the 20 pages of comments now, but the poster with the "Shepherd Park/Crestwood/Colonial Village isn't real EOTP" quote mentioned here was responding to me, since I live in one of those "fake" EOTP neighborhoods.

Where is Crestwood, seriously. I've heard of the other 2.

Crestwood is a real, easily defined neighborhood with a strong sense of self/community identity. No Forest Hills or Swampoodle or NoMa or whatever. If you don't know of its existence that's kind of on you.

It's where the world-wide headquarters of DCUM is located.

Whoa, Prince of Petworth beware, the Crank of Crestwood is out and about

Well, with people as nice as you...I can see why people would avoid it. I've lived here 30 years and never heard of it. Is it one of those new made up neighborhoods?
