Nope, Farmland and Luxmanor walk into BOE meeting requesting not to eoncentrate poverty in one high school and leave other with 10-12% FARMS when both are next to each other. It's not good for WJ and it's not good for Woodward.

Nah, boundary is a far easier option to push. Also, some facilities are getting built just for Art. Moving it will be a problem.

I agree. And this is not the first time that point has been brought up on this forum. It is a high FARMS and a meaningless magnet combo that will give Woodward a horrible starting point. Having an important magnet (STEM, IB or humanities) will significantly improve school's chances to succeed.

Don’t turn on the new Woodward families when MCPS divided the schools and even the WJ cluster in an unexpected way. The way they split KP and GP puts all the single family homes in WJ rather than Woodward.

GPES has many multi family houses still going to WJ. The Parkside condos, stoneybrook, apts near Grosvenor.

The islands from GPES that didn’t get WJ make complete sense. They should go to Woodward. One is directly next to Woodward.

Option B was the right call.

They will do elementary boundary soon to mitigate some of the split articulation issues. KPES is under capacity and Ashburton is over capacity. It will get resolved.

Looks like all the Option B signs on Strathmore worked.

They were desperate to avoid Woodward.

I won't celebrate yet. MCPS may not ceoncentrate poverty in Woodward and make both schools more similar in final approval. It will depend on how hard Old Farm/North FArm and Luxmanor area lobbies.

You lost credibility there. VM “improved” from Wheaton to Woodward too. You don’t see VM clamoring for WJ. GPE and KPE keeps status quo for its core.

Rich “BCC” desires FARMS at other schools but not their own.

BCC has FARMS of around 22%. It;'s good for FARMS and non-FARMS kids.

VM joining RM will create another two schools with around 20% FARMS and that will be good for our region.

what is the FARMS level for WJ and Woodward in option f?

It does. once school having much higher percentage of FARMS it's not good for FARMS and non-FARMS both. Unfortunately we can't create around 20% FARMS for all schools in our county but whenever we can do it withoiut any negative, not doing it simply criminal.

Off course just having 20% does not mean you don't need to other things to have good schools. but it helps a lot.

None of the 7 Woodward options had 20% at both. Woodward was always at least 30% and WJ less. You’re not going to change it with a VM switch.

I am not sure if any option had entire GP or KP in Woodward. BOE does not need to pick one of the 7 options. They can modify recommeded option and it will create range of FARMS in 20-25% in both schools. Modification won't impact any other school because swapping only needs to happen in WJ and Woodward to avoid ceoncentrating poverty in one school.

Not true. Look at option f. It is all GP in Woodward and it is still 30% FARMS.

No one has said that but the kids who do arts often do multiple so they all interconnect. Music and theater kids intermix and music kid do Pitt orchestra. Fine arts kids he,p with the set. Choir kids sign in the musical. Why should they be limited?
