No, I haven't mentioned Takoma Park at all.

This is the implication of the argument that Blair needs to serve all kids who can walk there, as has been mentioned above.

And frankly, plenty of DTSS kids (SCES and HVES come to mind) are already being bussed past Blair to get to Northwood. The boundaries are going to be frustrating as long as they refuse to build inside the beltway. Prioritizing walkers cannot be the top criterion.

Walking is a nice concept. Too bad there are so many unsafe routes to school.

I’m still disappointed they didn’t use the old Adventist health site. But this is also fair game for creative urban planning, if anyone was interested.

There is land but the options sound like lunacy because the political will just isn't there. I can remember when there was real discussion about putting a high school at Takoma-Piney Branch Park and making the connected properties into a unified school/school athletics complex. Would have been crazy, and traffic/parking would have been a shit show, but also...just pull the trigger and solve some of the boundary distortions of having to ship a lot of these kids to Blair and Northwood.

You cannot walk across the beltway and kids have been hit or killed on these roads. The only way to get across those is a walkway and that would be safe.

Okay, sorry, I was basing it on your posts. Regardless, that is an extremely normal commute to school. Not sure why you are acting like it is some tragedy? Are you really suggesting that all that extra time should be added on to the end of the TPES kids' bus trip instead of yours, which really would make theirs unfairly long?

OK. If that is MCPS's policy, then we should declare all inside-the-beltway neighborhoods as not walkable to Blair. And it appears that all outside-the-beltway neighborhoods around Blair are now assigned to Blair in Taylor's recommendation. So this whole argument about assigning more walkers to Blair is moot.

I agree there needs to be another school. We are in the DCC and not far but the bus ride is long. It’s up to an hour for some kids if you look at the routes. My bigger concern is the lack of course offerings.

Agreed about disparity in course offerings. Please write the BOE to adopt the policies recommended in OLO Report 2026-2. I don’t know why there is no local news coverage about these staggering statistics.

I’ve written them and central office many times for more stem. No response but to go to Mc but kid doesn’t meet Mc criteria.
