She looks amazing. But the dress is so boring. Like a $250 dress from Nordstrom or Bloomingdales.

I agree, but it is very "on brand." Jenns whole thing is like she is a boring suburban mom and this looks like something a tired housewife could pull off the closet floor and be "acceptable."

I only saw her in this while she was walking and it looked different and really good.

Yes it looks a little like a repurposed bridesmaids dress from the 80s, especially with the matchy shoes. But the details are super lux (it's Dior) and I actually kind of love the pattern on the fabric and the length. Plus the color is great on her. I think if you got rid of the weird neckline and drape situation, it would be boring, but also I don't like those elements?

However her hair and makeup looks amazing, maybe the best she's ever looked. Just fresh and natural and lovely, and I love this hair style, length, and color on her A LOT.

It looks like a repurposed tablecloth. Her hair and makeup didn't deserve this.

I think she looks stunning.

Actresses should look like they stepped off a runway…not like they bought ready to wear from Bloomies.

Stepped off a runway?? Parker Posey looks like she made her dress out of curtains a la Gone With the Wind.

It’s custom Rodarte and fashion commentators are raving about it.

Goes to show you that the fashion commentators have poor taste.

I guess you missed the lecture in Devil Wears Prada, pp? Our opinions on fashion are relatively meaningless. There’s an entire industry of professionals who are qualified to say what is and isn’t good.

Fwiw, the pros are saying the custom silk Rodarte gown and how it was styled brought much needed drama to the fashion for the evening. It was meant to be costumey and over the top, and only someone as fashion-forward as Parker Posey could pull it off.

Wasn’t that whole lecture meant to be a joke? What gives Miranda any qualification to say what is and isn’t good?

No, that speech was supposed to be the moment you, the audience, paused and wondered if Miranda was really the "villain" to Andie's plucky protagonist, or maybe a more complex and compelling character thank you thought.

Her qualification is decades of experience in the fashion industry, ascending to the very top of her field and earning the respect of designers, stylists, photographers, etc. It would be like if George Saunders weighed in on literature to a snotty recent college grad, and you were like "whatever, what are his qualifications tho."

Except that designers, stylists, and photographers work in a pretty much small closed system/echo chamber. That’s why we see so much that’s hideous on red carpets.

DP. I loved this entire look, but then again, I thought she was pregnant. Now that I know she is not pregnant, I do wonder why that shape... but she still looked lovely.
