What makes the ESPN story even more "icky" is that Penn State has room on the roster: https://x.com/ImYouthSoccer/status/1858669015239192752/photo/1 They have 24 rostered currently. So the story as it was told isn't matching the reality. |
Why? |
This is a parent of a player creating a false narrative with social media, pictures and anything that can get the name out there. These kinds of efforts generally put the kids in tough athletic situations when they get to college because they are the bottom of the recruiting class. The 28 player roster limit was the perfect excuse for college coaches to reset their choices. Feel bad for the kid, but this is another result of the crazy soccer parent. |
THIS. |
As expected...College coaches taking advantage of the rule change to get better players. https://x.com/ImYouthSoccer/status/1863372514883239993 |
Why not? It's their job. Thier job is not to be every players friend. It's to create a winning team. They want to leave room for the transfer portal pick ups. |
Coaches are careful as to what to say and commit verbally to. They add all the appropriate loopholes to the conversations. |
| Loopholes stated, implied, or otherwise, a verbal is only that. It's a rough part of the recruitment process where at some point reputation will matter for coach. If you continuously flake on girls, it'll get around and top quality will avoid. May not happen this year or next, but it'll catch up to you. This year is an anomaly with the changes that may or may not come... people forget nothing as been decided. |
Seeing a few announcements of transfers finding new schools. Most are taking a step down to a lower ranked team or an equal move. Interesting that some choose to go public with the information and others don't. Not sure which is better or if it makes a difference either way? |

If you are not a top 28 player on a college soccer roster why would you want to play anyway? That has to get old really fast. |
University of Texas just announced they will carry 28 players on roster for women's soccer and all 28 will have a full scholarship. |
| Some colleges will be paying salaries to players, not scholarships. Expect top d1 basketball and football schools to be paying salaries to other sports players. |
No way. How can you even think that? Most teams do not have much more than 28! |
Can you please provide a link to the announcement? Would like to share it with others but could not find it when I searched. Thank you! |
