28 Rosters Spots/28 Scholarships for NCAA Women's Soccer

With title ix this could give a huge boost to girls sports getting some of the increased football revenue. Not so good for non-football or baseball boys sports.

Football or basketball. Even at school where it is popular, baseball operates in the red.

This.

One of my best friends 'played' lacrosse. In 4 years, she saw the field a handful of times. On the other hand, she got into a school that she otherwise likely would not have, she got priority class selection, she got much better housing, she got better meals for free, she had academic supports for free, and as much school swag as she wanted. She wasn't scholarship, but she got every other benefit.

There are many football players who never see the field. They have no intention of playing beyond college. It can be fun just to be a part of it.

Oh I think a price increase is coming from ECNL. Brace yourself.

This change is going to be painful. Looking at Penn State current women’s roster, they have 33 players. Their 2025 recruit class is like 10 players. This means they will have to cut loose a lot of players in 2025 to meet the cap. The trickle down will not be fun. 25 and 26 players should be nervous about losing your spot unless you are a top recruit.

That is a tough situation if you commit as a Jr. and get a call next year as a 2025 and get cut before signing day. Many of these verbal commitments could end up going away. The other issue will be if the school allocates say 20 full scholarships and your are 1 of the 8 players that doesn't get money...while that situation happens today it's only 11.5 so that's a big difference.

Coaches have already started decommitting 2025's

Penn State has 33 with 4 seniors and 6 grads. They have 11 2025 commits, so 34 means they need to drop 6.

This is going to to be brutal for a bunch of girls. Some of these kids are going to have few, if any, other options. Let's try and support everyone through this as it's going to get worse before it gets better......

Second, number of funded scholarships is completely up to each school based on their financial situation. College may fund zero scholarships, one scholarship, or even more than the roster cap. given redshirting, full season injuries, a really deep pocketed school may have more players on scholarship than active roster for that year/season.

It was announced. It's actually excellent for womens soccer. They go from 14 full scholarships to 28!! More$$$ for more kids!

Lots of players in every college sport will never play. Football carries 85 (some teams have even more players not officially on the team)- lots will never see the field

Yes college takes way too many players. It waters down the sport. Maybe 1% of NCAA players will make a professional team and stay in the roster for over 2 years. College soccer takes 90% of the girl ECNL.

My son made one before college

Girls soccer went up! Double! This is great news people. Lots more money for more players.
