I know ya'll hate the fit of her jackets but I think it's working for her -- she's downplaying her figure a bit but it gives her a strong shoulder that photographs extremely well and looks perfect behind a podium. It's context-specific dressing and I think it works.

I like the navy column. With the pants and her heels it makes her look taller and more imposing. It's assertive.

I don't know who is doing her styling but they are doing a good job and thinking about it strategically. I'm taking notes. And before you tell me that if it were a man we wouldn't be talking about this -- please google the phrase "looks like a Kennedy" and discover the wide world of men working very very hard to look "presidential" and using fashion and styling to convey power and strength. Fashion is messaging and politics are all about messaging.

I loved it, too. Funny enough my husband, who never notices clothes, said he found the suit frumpy. I strongly disagree.

The jacket and navy column were good but did not like the bow.

Same. I personally do not like the bow look. It seems very in now, but will be super dated/cringy again soon. At least it was all one color.

I did really like the cut of her suit, including the slight flare of the pants. She looked fantastic - neither frumpy nor showy.

I hope she sticks with her long-time lawyer look. She doesn't need to change a thing. But I do hope she has fun with the formal wear!! Nothing overly "fashion-y" - it doesn't seem to fit her brand. I just hope she feels free to choose whatever colors, fits, and textures she likes. She's beautiful and should enjoy it.

I always thinks she looks great at the formal events, in part because she doesn't try to invent herself as someone totally different wearing different clothes (like some flowy chiffon floral thing), and in part because she seems to actually like her date. Joe, Barack and Kamala actually all seem to really like hanging out with their spouse, which I'm sure helps a lot at these stressful formal dinners. That was also probably true of Laura and George.

George and Barbara Bush were also very much in love and it showed when they were together.

I thought it was pretty much an open secret that George Bush had a mistress?

Right. She’s not a great dresser at all

I'm a middle aged female lawyer, and I think Kamala's fashion is fantastic. Love the pantsuits, the Manolo Blahniks, and yes, even the Chucks.

I too stopped wearing skirt suits years ago. I just wear pantsuits now, and I don't think I'm ever going to go back.

Same, pp. It seems pretty clear that the vast majority of negative posters really have no idea how an actual lawyer dresses.

Me too! 46 and lawyer here, and she'd be the woman in the firm we're all trying to copy. Could she be more "fashion forward"? Absolutely, but at the trade off of not being taken as seriously in client meetings or by other partners, sore feet from crazy 15 hour days, etc. I think she looks fantastic - she's got the perfect balance of wearing stuff that is totally flattering on her without bringing attention to her fashion.

Doing that while wearing a skirt suit or dress and stilettos does not sound comfortable to me at all. I don't like pant suits, but I 100% would rather be wearing pants if that were my day. Standing up - sitting down - standing up - sitting down. Yeah, pants please.

I don't think anyone criticized the pants?

I am not a lawyer, and I think she looks great. I like that she smiles a lot, it lights up her face. Her clothes are professional, elegant and do not distract from the position she has, or the one she's aiming for.

I wish both sides would get more into the nitty gritty policies, but I understand that it's not in either of their interests right now.

I'm not a Kamala Harris fan, but I did love what she wore the other night - the navy column looked fantastic.

She has a big ass and legs thus the pant suits. And re: the PP claiming GHWB having a mistress, maybe he did. But what do you think ole Dougie is up to with all his free time? Banged the nanny and paid for her abortion in his previous marriage. But damn, Kamala can work the pant suit.

She is criticized if she smiles or was it when she laughs? Can you imagine if she always had a stern look, they would go after her for that.

I think her look is successful because it's monochromatic and she avoids prints. Prints can be distracting and even misinterpreted. I remember a lot of discussion about a shirt that Ann Romney wore for an interview that had birds on it.

The single color is flattering and elongating and it doesn't draw your eye to her waist because of a belt or to her hemline and shoes if she wore skirts. It's more like how a man dresses.

She also doesn't wear too much jewelry which can also be distracting; her jewelry would be the equivalent of a man's tie--need to wear it but don't be loud. Her hair style and makeup are consistent. She's the epitome of succeeding at a professional image.

Her smile is also a Duchenne smile, is consistent and she looks happy.

Honestly, for all his flaws, I don’t think I had ever heard that about George W Bush. Or Obama. But Bush Sr’s story was all over the place.

I love a well tailored pantsuit and the monochromatic look.

But I wish she’d add some Femininity to her wardrobe. I dont like this signal to women that you have to dress like a man to be successful. Can’t stand Nancy Pelosi but her wardrobe is perfection.
