Kamala Harris fashion as President

What will we see in fashion if she becomes President?

Presidents don't do fashion. They need to project stability and security, which is the antithesis of fashion.

Kamala Harris is a good dresser. Not the best (Jackie Kennedy and Melania Trump occupy first place jointly), but good enough.

Looking forward to the First Husband dropping off a suit at the National History First Ladies Collection!!!

What are some presidential looks that we'd like to see her wear?

This will be interesting because typically women have more fashion flexibility but are subject to a lot more fashion criticism than men.

I'd like to see her channel Nancy Pelosi. Really great, crisp dresses

Pant suits are too severe for her. I don't like the cut of this jacket.

Pant suits in every color.

+1. She’s not changing her look.

I’m fine with pants suits.

Kamala doesn't really do the dress or dramatic coats thing. She still dresses like a lawyer and I think it works for her -- tailored pant suits in bold colors with simple tops and shoes and statement jewelry that doesn't compete with her features.

She's also one of those women who has both a really striking and easily recognizable face even without a ton of makeup AND great hair. It makes her very telegenic. She of course wears lots of makeup (all high level politicians do even the men) but it just brings out her already strong features and she doesn't have to do much contouring.

Also like a lot of women of south asian and or african descent she can handle really bold colors both in her clothes and in her makeup and it never overpowers her.

She's actually got her look on lockdown and I don't think it needs any real updating for a presidential run. It helps that she has been a professional who needed to wear suits and have great presentation basically since she started working in her 20s and she's never had to present differently. Hilary had a harder time with this because she started working in a time when female lawyers were still not common and no one knew how they should dress and then she was first lady in Arkansas and in the White House and was constantly pushed to soften and feminize her look which later undermined her when she ran for office and had to find a professional wardrobe basically for the first time in her 50s. Kamala has been dressing the same for 30 years and she wears it well.

She already looks great.

But we'll see better fitting and more dynamic pantsuits, and a knock-out dress every once in a while.

NOPE. Let’s not do this.

It’s fine to have a thread for spouses and family members. But the nominees are off limits. If you wouldn’t have a thread for Trump or for Biden in terms of fashion, then there shouldn’t be one for Harris.

This - I would hate for her to switch to skirt-suits. Then we've got really dowdy hemlines to contend with and differing opinions on length. Pant suits are perfect. There's an entire decision making thread removed to focus on the important stuff. Which pantsuits. Can we get bolder? Will we see a tan one (!!). Will we see some softer jackets on occasion? And yes, a knock out dress from time to time will be great. even in the office, a dress (no suitcoat) with some long sleeves would be amazing.
