Novel based on Sidwell coming out in summer

“I realized that the last time I felt this type of anger and embarrassment was when I was in high school at Sidwell Friends”

The piece was signed “Professorial Lecturer and writer, Washington DC”

It’s “Adjunct” Professorial Lecture

This woman is in her 50s. She needs therapy so she can release this anger. The multi-decade grudge she has carried against Sidwell reminds me of that old quote, “resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” The only person suffering is the author of this mediocre book.

Mediocre would assume it’s not a typo-laden draft that got published through the friends and family connections to capitalize on the celebrity status of the school in question

There’s some serious editing, character and storyline development needed to lift this up to “mediocre”

Best I can describe this is a revenge genre fever dream

The author apparently has an extremely privileged life for which she can allegedly thank her Asian parents and her non-Asian husnand, and fundamentally, Sidwell too

The least she could do is publish under a pseudonym in line with her family wishes

But she really did all she could to be found out from what I’ve observed. I would be curious to what extent this little escapade has affected his reputation and how seriously he’s taken in making money for her to pursue being an “autheur” and “professorial lecturer” (aka adjunct).

I can believe that some of the folks in the acknowledgments are less than pleased especially since she outed them but not her own family, and implicated them in allegedly reading her “drafts” and implied they agree with her worldview expressed in this rant against her old school

Who signs their online blogs “professorial lecturer and writer”?! That’s just weird

I know someone who works at the publisher and apparently multiple news articles forthcoming about the novel and how racist and petty the reaction from local parents have been….also  aren’t you all just proving her point?!

You all are truly the most insufferable group of individuals I have ever encountered in my life. I wish I had the time in my day to be concerned about a book that affects me in no way. You all clearly have nothing better to do with your lives.

Yup, the news articles should lift a few of these lovely comments and publish them as part of their stories. A real reflection of the community.

I tried. I have no shame saying that I thought it would be a snarky beach read. The writing is so terrible I gave up.

Though all institutions should make something like "lecturer" follow adjunct, because in most situations, they are light years away from being anything resembling "professor."

Doublechecked it’s the right person on the link the PP posted and certain it’s true because it has been removed from the Maret website

TBH are the person's initials?

I am Asian, I thought the book was horrible.

I think you're confused. The individual's name is still easy to find on the school's website..
