I didn't. I wasn't sure where they fit on the political spectrum. |
NP, but my husband is a military officer, and there are tons of liberals ranging from older Clinton types to flat-out communists. Even officers. |
Agree. West Point as chew boys, with a good o'le boy mentailty, who like to hunt and fish. USNA boys who are basically preppy soft boys who want to sail before running for office and/or want to make a shitload of $. |
This is a new thing though. Dh was in for decades and it wasn’t until he neared retirement that we began to see the increase in evangelicals. I watched the the CoS slam a young commander for suggesting he talk religion as part of his leadership role. Sadly, the older guys are mostly gone and now our pilots have degrees in “the Bible” instead of astronautical engineering. |
| How does an academy grade make a “shitload of $”? |
Here is a sample from my husband’s friends Investment Banking 2 started very successful contracting companies Pilots Executive at automotive company Executive at financial institution |
Surgeons for the ones i know |
My dh’s classmates include CEO’s and CFO’s of publicly traded companies who fly in on corporate jets when they come to town. |
Not exactly. USNA is also home to future Marines, like my DH. He is now making a shitload of $, but not before doing things that were not exactly for the faint of heart or soft preppy boys. Agree with the Air Force, lots of them are uber conservative Christians |
My DH is C Suite at a FAANG. |
This is kind of true. Air Force does tend to be Christian Conservative. I wouldn't say West Point are good ol' boys. But they're definitely up for hunting and fishing. It's the challenge. Tell a West Pointer go hunt or fish for your food. Yes sir would be the answer. They like these kind of challenges. It's a particular kind of person that does Army. Annapolis is definitely the career steppers. Wouldn't say soft, but certainly not Army In any event, all three academies offer pretty good pipelines to good careers. |
