Looking at Charter schools- are white students a minority at all the schools?

Anonymous
I have looked at the stats for all the schools and it seems that the demographics that I can find suggest that no matter what charter school, at best there is only a 33% white student body. Is this accurate? .

You must mean "at most." At best? Yikes!

Oh, charters are so not for you --

I hesitate to share this, but ''white'' (also "asian") is often shorthand for "middle/upper-middle class." The shocking news is that there are, in fact, many middle/upper-middle class AAs too.

Perhaps you ought to be assessing FARMS numbers instead. Or, perhaps you should be looking for your size in white cotton percale - extra starch to help with the pointy hood.

This. Just throw in the towel and move.

"At best"??? Omg. Seriously? This must be a joke, right?????

Non-Hispanic whites are a minority in DC--below 40% of the population, if I recall correctly. So it stands to reason that they'd also be a minority in charter schools, which take kids from all across the city.

(In fact, since whites are overrepresented in neighborhoods with strong DCPS options, I might expect them to be even more underrepresented in charters.)

Yup. Whites are the minority at charters. If you want majority white folks go to JKLMM or to high property tax nabes in MoCo and Fairfax.

There are a handful of "Benetton" schools. If you like your multi-culti to be high-end, it's an option, but only at a few schools. Lamb, Mundo Verde, Yu Ying, and Latin will satisfy your Upper-West-Side aesthetic, if you can get in.

If you want "lily-white" go to upper NW or go private. Better yet, go to Fairfax or Montgomery County.

Add IT to this list, for the lower grades anyhow.

Someone who says "at best 33% white" is not even looking for "Benetton" schools. They're looking for a free, high quality, lily white school.

OP do yourself a favor, move in-bounds for a JKLMM school or go private or leave DC. You won't like your charter school if you stay here, and the kids and parents who appreciate diversity/desire diversity will not enjoy having to deal with you being miserable and worried that there are too many non-whites in your kids' school. It will suck for all of us.

Fairfax and Montgomery County are majority minority. There are very few lily white schools there. DC has more white majority in JKLM than you will see in the suburbs these days.

Ok then OP, just helping you out: move in-bounds for JKLMM or go private. Just please, do not go charter. Save yourself, and save us from you!
