Will I ever poop again?!?

I had a planned c section last Friday and haven't had a poop since!!! I have taken a stool softener daily and today I stopped the pain medicine in hopes things would start moving with no luck! Any moms out there have any suggestions??!?

Nature is kind like this -- you get a break. It will be less kind when you finally poop. Normal -- but keep taking that stool softener!

Stool softener, water, moving around as much as you can. It will happen and it will not be pleasant, but then you'll feel so much better and you'll have the first one behind you. Congrats on baby!

Im surprised they released you from the hospital. Seemed to me everyone was obsessed with when i pooped after my csection. With my seond csection, my OB gave me laxtives in addition to the stool softeners. I hate laxatives though, think the stool softeners and lots of coffee worked better to get things moving without the stomach cramps.

Holy cow, OP, i know exactly what you're going through. It will happen, and it will scare you. It will be the birth experience you missed by having a c-section. After you achieve your poop, you will be cheering and running around the house doing a victory dance like a star quarterback. You will feel so good, so exhilarated. You will call your sister and revel.

Oh my God. I had the worst experience around that. It was worse than the c section. I actually had to bear down and I popped in the bathtub. So nasty. I know.

Carrot juice is what helped me finally go.

I am the PP and you are SO right!!! Love this. It was liking giving birth to a 3 lb child.

ditto 23:58 - After a C-section I wasn't allowed to leave before having a bowel movement, although we did have to use a laxative to bring it on @ 2 or 3rd day. I'm surprised they released you.

Where did you guys give birth? this BM related to release from the hospital is very old news.

Nowadays they want you out no matter what.

BTW, OP, I agree with the PPs who said you'll be able to tell people you gave birth twice, once by Csec and another with no meds haha!

I'd take a senocot - softener with mild laxative. They gave it to me in the hospital and pooping was easy peasy. No crazy laxative feeling, just allowed md to go normally.

I can't believe I just said that.

I had s csectiin in August and it was 6 days before I pooped. It will happen. Coffee and water plus stool softeners were my friends.

Agree with the advice, OP. Also, I think some of the pain medication is constipating. I had better luck when I switched to ibuprofen.

I had the same experience. Drink lots of water, eat lots of fruit and veggies, get some prune juice, cut down on carbs, call your OB. This was the worst aspect of my c-section. I was way more proactive with my second and managed to have a BM much faster.
