I'm starting the induction phase of the atkins diet. I have done Atkins in the past, and exercise was hard. My muscles would burn, I think because of the lack of carbs to fuel my muscles. Has anyone had the same problem? Can anyone offer tips for exercising while on the Atkins induction? Thanks!
How can any diet where you are too sore to exercise be good for you? Seriously? If it is making oyur body sore to not have enough carbs then just thing about what it is doing to your brain. If you have done it before, regained weight and have to do it again then it is not working for you. Eat a clean blanced diet and get carbs from things like sweet potatoes.
OP, I do Atkins from time to time and I wouldn't recommend very much exercise while on the program. Light walking should be fine, but running/weight lifting really is too much.
OP here. Thanks for your posts. I'm 4 days into induction, and it's going well. I did a Zumba class today, and it was no problem. In the past, I had trouble during induction with exercises that really fatigued my muscles under normal conditions (bike riding, weights). The last time I did Atkins was 15 years ago, and it really helped me.
I would think that weight lifting would be better than cardio if you're on Atkins. I think you'd have a harder time fueling cardio workouts with limited carbs.
