Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 5

Anonymous
The press has been unfair to Kavanaugh, but that does not mean that Kavanaugh’s not lying. A perfect example is Roy Moore. The press was so unfair to him that, if they weren’t actually lying, they came pretty darn close. The press talked about all these other “accusers.” But these other so called accusers weren’t accusing him of anything. They said that they had consensually dated him when he was. 33 and they were teenagers but over the age of consent. There was no crime. The press was smearing his name for political purposes. NEVERTHELESS, I believe the woman who claims that Moore molested her when she was 14. Moore just comes across to me as one who is as slimy as a person can be. Furthermore, there is the matter of Moore’s refusal to remove the Ten Commandments from the courthouse. It is always these Bible thumpers who are the worst sexual sinners of all. Remember Jimmy Swaggert and all the rest? At first I thought that the Republicans were getting it right. He RNC withdrew it’ support and the majority leader said that he had no reason to doubt the women. But then Trump endorsed Moore. The RNC started supporting him again and Mitch McConnell said “we’ leave it up to the voters

Zero evidence? Julie Swetnick is a woman with an impeccable reputation. She was at 10 parties where Kavanaugh was spiking the punch bowl and gang raping women. She had 4 witnesses that could back up her story but Trump made sure the FBI would not investigate her claim.

Is this supposed to be a joke. This allegation blew the whole case for the Democrats. Not believable at all.

I know that when I head out to a gang rape, I always pack a punch bowl. It adds a touch of class.

Anybody who thinks that a 20 year old woman who went to Gaithersburg High is going to be hanging out with a bunch of 16-17 year old Georgetown Prep students on 10 different occasions clearly never went to private school in this area.

And punch bowls? What high school party have you ever seen a punch bowl at?

The Prep Prick is back! How many people did you rape today? Either figuratively or literally.

The Dems used Ford, despite knowing she had no proof of her allegation from high school, to try to force Kavanaugh to withdraw, and it didn't work. He is in the SCOTUS now, and there he will stay. Stop wasting your time dreaming about impeachment, since you will never get the 2/3 of the Senate you'd need to convict.

I don't know about that. But we do need to do something to stop the acceptability of lying in our leaders. The moral fiber of our nation cannot hold if our very leaders are bold faced liars. What to do, I'm not sure. (and, yes, I'm against democratic liars as well. I thought if there was anything that defined what it means to be American, it is the sacredness of truth)

I think we need to distinguish between lies. Lying about a slang term for flatulence in one's high school yearbook is not the same as lying about being able to keep one's doctor and having premiums go down.

And as a reminder, things people have called out as lies, haven't been.
Kavanaugh said he drank.

I am seven years older than Kavanaugh. People are say that “booking”and the Devil’s Triangle were sexual games. I have never heard of “boofing.”::But the Devil’s Triangle was a drinking game. Whether it later morphed into a sexual game after I graduated from high school I have no idea.
Kavanaugh's answer for what Devils Triangle meant was backed up by men who were Prep students at the time.
The FFFF thing was shown to be a regular, non-sexual, thing the boys did.

I think the assumption that the term wasn't one they used for farting, and thus is proof he perjured himself, is ridiculous at this point.

That leaves the comment about their friend from the girls school. I've known teenage boys, and I can easily imagine them saying and doing something crude and thinking it was affectionate toward her, particularly if they didn't ever have to consider she would actually see it. The things teenagers consider jokes or incrowd endearments sometimes miss the mark completely. It doesn't mean they're intended to be cruel. So that too, I think is a challenging one to prove perjury.

Point, it should have been investigated properly. As PP said, there is a pattern of potential lies about things great and small, both recent and in the distant past. It is not necessary for the FBI to prove perjury. Just provide information so that a fair minded Senator (seem to be a handful left) can make a decision based facts not conjecture.

The pattern I see is he's accused of lying, only to then have other people or evidence backing him up as being accurate. The "pattern" shows multiple cases where the people accusing him were wrong, and maybe a couple cases where there might be some question left.

You see it in this thread, people talking about "all the lies" he told about his HS yearbook. They're including the drinking (not a lie), the devils triangle (not a lie), FFFF (not a lie). Of course when you include things that aren't lies, the list appears to be a pattern. When you consider the list and start throwing things out that have been demonstrated not a lie, suddenly it's not a pattern.

Not the PP. Sorry, but I could not care less about stupid terms in one's high school yearbook. I don't expect even a SC nominee to get up in front of the world and explain any of those absurd terms 17 yr. olds used, 36 yrs. ago. I truly, honestly DON'T CARE. And I remain astounded at those of you who continue to clutch your pearls over this. I guess the man's impeccable reputation for the entirety of his adult life don't matter one iota to you. You people are beyond ridiculous.

So are you one of those republicans who shouted during the Clinton years that it’s stupid to criticize him - and even impeach - over a lie about a private and consensual sexual relationship?

If not, please explain what’s different for you (other than the party labels).

PP here. I was actually a Democrat during the Clinton years and highly admired him as a president. And during that time, I did think it was ridiculous to impeach him over what was essentially a lie about a consensual relationship.

I am now a moderate Republican who thinks the Kavanaugh witch hunt, and especially the "outrage" over the stupid yearbook terms, is beyond ridiculous.

I don't think party labels have anything to do with this. Rational, sane people don't foam at the mouth over things like this. Now, if one of them lied about killing someone? Then there would be a problem. But I don't care even a tiny bit about whatever "boofing" might mean. Sorry, I just don't.

That is NOT why he was impeached. Perjury and obstruction related to Paula Jones case and not his dalliance with Lewinsky.

Can you not see though that you are making assumptions without any evidence? Moore or whoever you don't like come across as "slimy" so therefore they are guilty before innocent. IF you are making judgments on actual facts, I can understand, but not on bias.

Hmm, do you say the same thing before or after chanting "lock her up?"

I went to public school in MoCo. While in high school I hung out with many prep school kids - including kids from Georgetown Prep. No crazy animal house parties for us (we were NOT the Brett Kavanaugh type of high schoolers). But we certainly socialized together and we were all kids were from affluent families. I'm not sure why posters are suggesting that it impossible that public school and private school kids didn't mix. Depending on the neighborhood, we certainly did.

If it's provable perjury, why isn't Leahy doing something about it? It's been over a month since he tweeted those tweets...

Swetnick was 20 years old hanging out with 16-17 year old kids not once but 10 times. There was a spiked punch bowl and a line of guys waiting to rape drunk girls. Where are all the other rape victims? Who continues going to these parties afterwards?

How on earth does she justify not doing/saying something, given that she was apparently the closest thing to an adult there was in the room?

The entire thing is unbelievable.

How can I put this gently?

There is a difference in a "public school in MoCo" which could be interpreted as, say, a W school, or perhaps BCC or Churchill, and Gaithersburg High.

Sorry, but right there is where her story fell apart. No one with teenagers from this area would ever believe that.

Brock Turner's victim was also in her 20s, a college graduate. Do you think she was lying about being at the frat party?

There were two witnesses who pulled her away so there was proof and it also was reported immediately. Attending a frat party in your early 20's is not the same thing as attending a high school party.
