daycare food

Is your child actually eating the lunch provided at daycare? Do you ask? If they do who is your food provider? I found my child is not actually eating the food though it is listed on the paperwork at the end of the day.

You made pack your own. Kids are picky eaters

All food is provided by our center (and prepared onsite) UNLESS your child has documented food allergies (needs a letter from the pediatrician) or cannot eat something due to religious reasons. They are very strict about what outside food can be brought in due to food allergies - they are a completely tree-nut/peanut free, so all foods that are brought in are careful inspected to make sure they are safe.
Our center is pretty good about documenting how much of the meals our DC eats ("ate very little", "ate 3/4", etc).

Would you mind telling me where they get the food? Our providers don't even eat the food and I thought they were required to

Our daycare quantifies it as ate little, ate some, and ate all (how that's defined, I'm not completely sure). I know one of the teachers told me once that if our son eats most of it, she would quantify it as "ate all." I send both my kids' entrees in, if the scheduled lunch is not vegetarian. Both of my kids are vegetarian and one has peanut and treenut allergies.

I'm sure this sounds bad, but I'm not exactly sure where everything comes from. A lot is prepared from scratch (or close to it). For example, if the meal is chicken stir-fry, the rice is cooked on-site, the chicken is cooked on-site, the veggies (I think) are a frozen stir-fry mix, and the sauce is already made.
Hot breakfast is also made on-site (pancakes, French toast, etc)

home daycare, all food is home made. I tell parents what their child ate for the day as well as how much. As for logging in their meals even if they dont eat. The county tells us all we are required to do is place food in front of them to eat. We cant force them to eat their food.

Why would they be required to? You need to talk to the center about the particular food. The providers may not be allowed to eat the food or may not be able to eat in front of the kids as they need to attend to the kids first.

You are right. The daycare I am waiting for requires teachers to eat the food with the kids . To show by doing and probably to make sure the food is correct (temperature, not spoiled, etc). Our state requires them simply to sit with the kids.
