Is it possible the trainee pilot's body hasn't actually been recovered yet? I see many reports of the other 2 military members of the helicopter being recovered, and the black box, but I haven't seen a report about the third body. Maybe I missed it? (Not that they couldn't release the name of the expected pilot, but maybe they are waiting for the body?)
Meanwhile, I, personally, would like more info about any activities that helicopter was performing earlier, including transport of VIPs etc. |
again, the Army told us who was on the UH-60 https://www.army.mil/article/282768/the_department_of_army_identifies_two_of_three_army_soldiers_involved_in_helicopter_crash there was: - two pilots (instructor pilot Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Loyd Eavesm who was giving a recurring evaluation of another unnamed pilot) and - one crew chief (Staff Sgt. Ryan Austin O’Hara who was head of maintenance team for that bird) the name of the 2nd pilot has not been released but would be expected to be released 72 hours after the next of kin were notified as per https://www.esd.whs.mil/Portals/54/Documents/DD/issuances/dodi/130018p.pdf |
A few minutes ago someone posted the name of the female pilot but without a source. Because of the lack of a source, I removed the post. When the page refreshed, a second post quoting the first one was also posted, this one with a link. Because it quoted a post that I deleted, I removed it as well. Now I have vetted both the name and the link.
The pilot's name is Rebecca Lobach and here is an article describing her: https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/durham-county-news/durham-woman-identified-as-third-aboard-black-hawk-involved-in-dc-midair-collision/amp/ There are several other articles available that identify her as well if you do a search an her name. ![]() |
Yep if people still remember that stuff they wouldnt be stupid to believe anything now |
May she rest in peace. I'm sorry that our Ghoul in Chief's first reaction is to blame the dead. May we do better in our next election of leaders. |
Prayers to her family |
She was the DEI that was the focus immediately afterwards? |
There was previous reports yesterday (I can't attest to their accuracy) that the fuselage was submerged with the crew buckled in. So there may be challenges in the recovery. I would imagine it's difficult diving in the cold Potomac There's actually a lot of air units in the DC area that do VIP transport. My friend did airplanes (King Air) for the Army for senior congress people up until Covid. I know of three different units doing similar work. To see what the PAT group was doing, you can see what looks like a similar training flight with likely the same route a few weeks ago https://es.flightaware.com/live/flight/PAT25 |
Exactly. So not 3 pilots. |
Anyone else’s mind still blown that DC airspace is used for training? I guess I thought all those military helicopters were actually doing legitimate military work, not training. I get that training is a necessity but still. |
According to some Google fu, it seems that her parents were Republicans and may have supported Trump. I wonder how they feel about his DEI comments. I am truly sorry for their loss. She seemed like an accomplished, smart, very capable woman, person, and citizen. |
you're supposed to train in as similar circumstances as the real thing. Officials at DCA warned for years that the airspace was too crowded and that air traffic controllers were majorly understaffed. and now we have a lot of dead iceskaters, kids and their families. |
I posted previously that the Administration would have already released the pilots name if she were a POC. And I was right!

Her qualifications look amazing. God bless her and her family. |
They only released after they found them today |
