Yes, I'm getting increasingly impressed with O'Brien. I have started watching her show on CNN between 7 am and 9am in the morning and it's such a relief to be able to watch something where there's not a whole lot of fluff.

Not really. The popular vote was pretty divided. I think most Democrats I know (including me) supported the healthcare bill not just because of the moral imperative but because it makes good economic sense for the country (i.e. will decrease healthcare spending as a share of our GDP). That is actually a conservative instinct; hence the fact that Republicans used to support this idea when they weren't catering to the wingnuts. I also think many Democrats care deeply about a balanced budget and surpluses and yearn for a return to the Clinton era. Just because we support different policies as a way to get us back to balance and solvency does not mean that the desire for those things is not, at heart, actually quite conservative. Just my opinion.
