Soledad O'Brien destroys a Republican idiot

How's that possible. Her daddy is white. Her husband is white. Her children are 3/4 white. And, if you look at her children, all you see is white. Hmm.

One thing that both you and the impenetrably dense congressmand have in common is the inability to formulate and express coherent complex thoughts. You also can't use punctuation properly, I'm not sure about him.

It has always amazed and baffled me as to how well many Republicans are able to effectively argue positions that would seem in defensible and essentially looney. During the Spring, I saw Carl Quintanilli interviewing Newt Gingrich. It looked as if Carl had him on the ropes for some indefensible position Gingrich had taken, only to have Gingrich come destroy Quintanilli to the point where it was embarrassing.

Frankly, I'd like to hear from someone who is knowledgable about the art and skills of debate on this topic. How is it that skillful debators are able to argue positions that defy logic, but still somehow make their arguments sound reasonable.

Another person who has this skill is Ann Coulter. She is an absolutely reprehensible human being, but she is one of the best debators I've ever seen. I seen her destroy intelligent opponents who had well reasoned arguments and positions with her arguments that had no basis in reality, but somehow wove it all together to sound reasonable.

I've mentioned these to instances because I know the Republicans can be fierce competitors in debate situations. I've been a fan of Soledad O'Brien since her early days as the weekend anchor on the Today Show. She great!!! Seldom are news anchors able to effectively deconstruct irrational hate mongering arguments and positions as well as she did today.

I only remember one other interviewer ever standing their ground and defeating such a mean-spirited hate mongering Republican before. Nora O'Donnell was still at NBC at the time and she was interviewing Ann Coulter. It was around the time of the 5th anniversary of 9/11. Ann Coulter had recently published that the 9/11 widows were a bunched of self-serving whining crybabies and that the time come for them to get over it and to move on with their lives.

Pretty crazy rhetoric right!?!? Well she had made the cable news interview circuit and came out of it totally unscathed until she ran into Nora O'Donnell. Nora O'Donnell took her apart and in the wreckage Ann Coulter was left speechless and exposed as the evil vicious hack we all know her to be.

Oh, I almost forgot the great job Katie Couric did during her interview with Sarah Palin during the last presidential campaign.

Go Soledad!!!!

The only thing I didn't like about Soledad's interview was her playing the "stupid girl" and saying, "wait, you are confusing me" etc. Of course, she was just playing dumb so he could repeat his idiotic points, but still, it bothered me.

She had no choice. Unlike in the UK, where people relish interviewers exposing politicians' stupidity, here in the US is it considered somehow unfair. That is how you end up with so many stupid politicians. So Soledad had to play the faux-naive card, so it didn't look like she was being mean.

I agree. The government is too big and the credit bubble is going to destroy our way of life. We don't have it in us to fix it before a economic depression. That is the discourse that should be taking place but won't until the pain hits.

The liberal press strikes again!

See, where as I view it as a sleight of hand - playing "naive" when what I'm really doing is condescending to you and giving you the rope you need to hang yourself. I look sweet while I'm sticking in the knife. I thought she was brilliant.

I just don't understand the name-calling in threads like this, from both sides. Is this really the example you're setting for your kids?
