How to get into one of these companies? Do I need to get a referral from someone who works there? I have a lot of DoD experience and clearance but not a SDE (as I am not working on cutting edge so I won't be able to compete ). Not sure what other jobs besides SDE I can do as I have a lot of analytical skills etc. Where do you look for FAANG jobs?

Have you tried their websites? Or did you not find jobs listed that match your interest/experience?

It seems like there are a lot of SDE jobs but I have old skills for that job. Maybe I should look under people jobs vs engineering - I might need to start at entry level due to competition and work my way up.

They will never hire someone over 30 for entry level.

Not true. My spouse didn't get his degree and first job till early 40's.

Not in the job market currently but Microsoft recruiter found my resume and LinkedIn profile. He is trying to poach me and said salary can be up to $350k. This is for a DC area position.

This is the weird part, how can govt contractors stay in business by offering engineers less than 300k/year, I guess they profits go to the top and they will end up fleecing more tax dollars when they can't compete with commercial

So what is his secret sauce? I’m a computer science major with a degree from an elite university in my 40s and I can’t land a job paying FAANG rates in tech.

My DH is getting multiple poaching emails daily in tech, each with seemingly a higher salary than the other. Hard to figure out what to do- stay with current company to reap benefits of likely IPO in 4-5 years or jump for a higher salary now (plus maybe IPO later)
