If you work in tech: what are your salaries?

How to get into one of these companies? Do I need to get a referral from someone who works there? I have a lot of DoD experience and clearance but not a SDE (as I am not working on cutting edge so I won't be able to compete ). Not sure what other jobs besides SDE I can do as I have a lot of analytical skills etc. Where do you look for FAANG jobs?

Have you tried their websites? Or did you not find jobs listed that match your interest/experience?

It seems like there are a lot of SDE jobs but I have old skills for that job. Maybe I should look under people jobs vs engineering - I might need to start at entry level due to competition and work my way up.

Hell, I would never work for these companies for all the money in the world.

"Hell, I could never work for these companies because none of them will hire me". There, corrected that for ya!

Why?

I can understand why not Facebook or Amazon, but why not apple, Netflix or google?

Also, swimming in money can overcome a lot of issues.

As a Lockheed shareholder, this salary is music to my ears. There's a reason FAANG stocks are tanking... these salaries are not sustainable once the fed increases a few rate hikes.

Aerospace pays horribly. It’s like acting. Lots of people want to do it because it’s cool and don’t strategize about salary. Lots of smart kids from rural America get aerospace degrees too, military families, etc who think they are doing interesting important work but don’t realize they should be fairly paid for this technical complex task.

Most individual roles top out at $150k, $200k with clearance. Director would be $250K and usually involve BD

For the low pay you even have more lower stress. Teams of senior engineers would literally do a weeks worth of work in a few hours. The rest of the time spent talking about DIY projects. Sometimes I wonder if I made the wrong move for 3x the more pay for 10x the more stress.

A former boss of DH is now at Amazon. He's tried to poach DH but he's very happy where he is currently. Definitely easier if you know someone but you don't have to know someone.

Find people who are already in FAANG to refer you. They would be more than happy to do so because they can get referral bonus. It's almost like a side gig now, I know people who would split 50/50 with you.
