LMVSC town hall

I know players last year who accepted the offer and paid but then changed their mind, didn't get their money back. Others, the Club refused to released their contracts and players soccer ID's to go somewhere else.

There's that sense of community again (thank you for your view on it). Creating urgency, especially at a time like this.

I am VERY frustrated with the club management. I want them to stop messing around with different “formats” and instead focus on actually supervising their coaches, Delivering on their promises, and finding a way to grow the club which is probably only possible through a merger.

However I have been thrilled with our coaches, so will stick around another year

"Merger". If we merge, that's evidence the townhall wasn't about community.

A merger is just evidence of the only thing they care about: money. There is no interest in the players.

Lmvsc has the chance to prove themselves for 6 months after Este left. What did they do? Change age group training format. Then, most coaches left and players followed. So what did Lmvsc do? So what's the solution to replace all those red teams and players? Stayed their new course and the result was a lot of losses/lack of development. CCL was too much and we had so many missing teams, but to them it doesn't matter. And now what do we do? More of the same, except training is 'academy-based'. There's no intent to develop. CCL costs more so they charge us more. A merger is the same thing: an attempt to force players in and collect more money.

I saw SYC post that they will be giving 25% in refunds or 30% credit. Don’t they play in the same leagues? Are they a more trustworthy club now? WTF?

All the good coaches and good players, who had been together for many years, left to SYC and made it their new home. Their bond was stronger than a commitment to a Club. They didn't play in the same league but they will now since SYC will be playing CCL again.

"Commitment to the club". I hear that a lot, but what about the club's commitment to the players? Are they making the best decisions in the interest of the players, their futures? I think no... every change looks to be a bettering for them.
- Staying in CCL which we're not competitive in hindering game development (which LMVSC said was pinnacle); costs us more money as well
- Going to academy system; sorry but it looks like just easier to schedule
- Not joining NCSL because 'it's harder for the coaches to manage their schedules' (see above); this one is really bad because already this year, multiple coaches will have CCL and NCSL teams

Feel free to reread this threat but those are just some of the points.

In total agreement here. It actually makes me sad that this is the case for LMVSC. It may not be considered a destination club but we were happy, the coaches have been great (minus the recent one) and the admin staff has been solid as well. Not sure why they are moving to this unproven model and what it is doing for them. Based off this and the town hall we are looking to make a change however I know they are going to have an additional town halll (per age group) to answer more questions. Might wait to see how this pans out but starting to queue up some other clubs to move to.

I just feel like I'm being taken for granted, like I'm just expected to fork over $2k. And after seeing things like "suck it up" and 'little Timmy can't hang'... well I guess i'm at the point where even the sense of community isn't even really true.
So what happens if a kid doesn't make a team, would they get a refund? oh wait there is no refund/credit.

no they'll probably do the proven track record of playing up a level and playing up a year. like going from 2002 white to 2001 red. like when an entire team did that.

I agree it's okay, which is why I have my reservations about the academy. And I haven't got more information on their process, so i think those were just buzzwords.

This is just a dumb comment to add something negative. In no way would any club keep your money if the player does not make the team. If they are taking your money, they are making a team.

maybe the kid wasn't on a winning team and maybe was their first year in travel and they saw progress in the kid's abilities.

Maybe a lot of things--maybe the club should've considered what our community actually is.

We need more players. There are too many northern Virginia clubs and we need players. There are other clubs in the same position. Why not combine and have enough players for more than one team in each age group?

If we can only offer one team, no good player has ANY incentive to come to LMVSC. Because they’re guaranteed to be with every player who should have made red, white, blue, green, purple, rainbow. That cannot yield a winning CCL team. It’s not possible.

This CCL argumnet has been made. Many people believe in playing NCSL--and there are great perks. Still competitive, it's more local. We don't have to drive to VA Beach, Roanoke, and Richmond to for one-sided games. Additionally, it would cost us SO much less as a club to only pay NCSL fees, not CCL fees. I don't care, we'll still be able to showcase at older groups and play tournaments. It's not like we're just gonna march in and landslide over NCSL teams.

But it sure looked to me like the club responded, tell us to 'suck it up' and such. Somebody posted the standings for CCL earlier. We did suck it up for a year, and it's too much. We've changed the entire program, let's change leagues as well. If not, I will go to a different club. It costs less, anyways.

PP here. And, while it would be good for more players, that's not what townhall said. "The academy works great in Europe", "the academy will be best for our club". I don't believe it, and I think they're just trying to make it sound new and exciting. There's no consideration for developing our players, just bringing more players in.

We should play NCSL
CCL cost too much
We should merge
I dont think academy is good for our club
We need more players

Go somewhere else!!! If that is how you feel then go spend your money and enjoy the experience somewhere else.
How much more whining is necessary?

LMVSC is not merging
They will play CCL
It will be academy based

Done, take it or leave it, its your choice
