This is interesting. I'm a late 40's anglo woman. My feminist 13 year old was a little appalled, but I was sort of like "It's Miami...." I do think it went a little too far in the pole dance direction, but I think they both look great and I liked the music. (I didn't realize Shakira is herself 43 -- I thought she was much younger than I am!) The male dancers did great but had really dumb outfits. Loved the PR flag, and the Born in the USA mashup (but hope they got the OK from the Boss).

Casinos don’t give back financially and promote physical programs for children. They actually give money to schools in the cities they host. They don’t bring kids to wear jerseys and meet the players. The NFL promotes itself as a family brand. But then after they get the kids hooked. Show violent gun video games and sex on is commercials. It’s inconsistent with his message. |
The US is rapidly becoming a shithole (to borrow a phrase from our president), it’s not surprising Puerto Rico is crumbling along with the rest of the US. |
Too gay for my taste. My 11 year old boy pointed them out before he ran away from JLo’s dancing. |
I love the U.S. But it all depends on where you live and what you have access to. |
| Well, we have finally made it Ladies. Our pay checks may not be equal. Title 9 is still a fight. But, by gosh, we have have this lauded halftime show. A celebrated burlesque performance on prime time tv. WIN! |

None of this is important.
The President of the US doesn’t know where Kanas City is located. Way more important than what the entertainment was wearing at half time. |

Loved it! Shakira and J Lo killed it.
Women can wear what they want in this country. We don’t have to be modest if we choose not too. My boys are 13 and 15. We were at a party with other tween and teen kids, no one got up and left. Why are you all teaching your boys that a women’s body is something to feel embarrassed about appreciating? They work out hard, they are athletes that train for hours for their dance routines. Simply denigrating them as just “scantily clad women” is incredibly misogynistic. |
Shakira is Lebanese / Spanish / Italian. “Of color”? Compared to Lady Gaga? (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) |

And JLo and Shakira (like all SB halftime stars) perform for free, for publicity. |
| How can these performers continue to present themselves in such an overtly sexual way - and not think they are contributing to sexual abuse. Along with our young men watching women grab their crotches, open their legs and shake their behinds and then getting punished because they made a sexual comment to a young woman . It is so disappointing that they cannot connect the dots . Jennifer Lopez was a HUGE diss appointment. Hope her daughter wasn’t watching. |
This. I don't bother watching the Superbowl or the half time show, but I do know which state the Kansas City Chiefs represent. |
LOL very clever. |
Oh stop. Of course they can wear what they want and take the critique that comes with it. Much of what they do well was completely overshadowed by the choices they made in order to entertain millions of men with their bodies. They knew that they awere doing. The goal si get and keep viewers and get talked about. They accomplished that. If a male performer got up there in a speedo, rubbed his crotch, gyrated, did lots of chippendale moves, and generally over sexualized a musical performance, I would feel the exact same way. It would also be a choice I would criticize and it would also accomplish the goal of getting people talking. Since women aren't as physically oriented, it might not keep women watching. |
