Harvey Weinstein

Just a rat scurrying off a sinking ship. She knew and she benefited.

So much evil out there. Teach the children to be strong. And righteous. We must model how we hope they will be.

MAtt Damon is a misongynist turd, what are you talking about?

No Meryl Streep is a misogynistic thug. Weinstein made her and she knew.

Nope. Meryl goes all the way back to award winning "Deer Hunter". She predates Harvey. I don't know if she knew or not. And neither do you.

There's knowing and not-knowing, right? For example, I used to work with a guy who was never anything but respectful to me (though I disliked him for his complete incompetence). I'm not a big talker at work beyond work stuff. But gradually over the years, as in several years after I started working with him, I started hearing stories. So-and-so told me that her officemate said that Larlo stared at her breasts. Another woman said she heard through the grapevine that Larlo made inappropriate comments. Someone else said she heard he yelled a lot and harassed female staff. That sort of thing. I never experienced it, never witnessed it, never talked to anyone who admitted experiencing it first-hand, but after a few years it was sort of an atmospheric thing where everyone knew there had been talk, but no one ever made formal allegations. And we are all employment lawyers so you'd think someone would have made allegations, but when it's your job and reputation on the line, it's not so easy.

Meryl predates Harvey and has power in her own right, and likely has had a completely different experience of interacting with him. Also, he seems to go for young vulnerable girls and she hasn't been that for a long time. She'd tell him where to shove it if he tried, and he would know that.

I can well believe that she didn't know for sure, but that she knew the rumors, but perhaps never took any steps to satisfy herself of their truth because -- let's be honest -- most people in this kind of situation don't. People look out for themselves and their immediate friends and that's about it. Particularly in an industry where there are power brokers and knowing someone is the ticket to success.

So everyone knew but no one knew? She knew. Everyone who was in the industry knew. It is get ridiculous. People are now just picking their favorite actors and saying they did not know. Everyone knew. It was not a secret.

It's like a mafia crime ring. There needs to be a federal investigation.

"I’ve worked in the industry and it was an open secret about Weinstein. If you think he is the only one you’re delusional. Those celebrities attacking him? They’ve know for decades about him, as well as others. Now the pr wheels will churn to bring you the tearful revelations, the apoplectic actors aghast at his perverse behavior. Remember though, he is not the only one and this is rampant. He got caught and is the pig being roasted for the others to feed on. Keep your eyes open, ears open and brain cynical on the onslaught of distracting crap that’s going to be slung."

I don’t follow the entertainment industry so I don’t know much about this Weinstein guy. I will say, though, he’s not very attractive.

There were plenty of women too. They should be doubly ashamed.

Anjelilina Jolie said he harassed her and she tried warning other women, but they ignored her.

Honestly, Angelina Jolie's behaviour back in the day when this would have happened would have made me disbelieve/disregard her claims too- the blood with Billy Bob, the making out with her brother, etc. Plus, she wasn't some aspiring starlet from parents who waited at a WalMart in Arkansas- she had Hollywood power and connections behind her in her family. If she was going to tell someone, why the heck wouldn't she have told them - who might at least have had the power to do something about it.

- pimp and sex recruiter in Hollywood since 1980
- bribed judges on the sag to win oscars
- sat on scripts and parlayed favors for star development
- busted for faking the books
- tried to defraud a NYC charity to finance the famous play "Hamilton"
- banks called his loans, bunch of fraud uncovered.
- brother hated how weinstein turned their company into a porn/pimp franchise vs making horror and indie flicks
- harv thought he could gatsby his way to the top, in the end Clinton and all the big fish left him to burn
- now Hollywood is using him as scapegoat to deflect from their degeneracy and save themselves, esp. the starlets who based on 2017 are now priced out of the guild and will need to go b list or retire

Would you speak up knowing he could make or break your career? I’d like to think that I would speak out, tell people but in reality who knows. I understand why they didn’t speak out.

Just as I understand why women aren’t speaking out against the other powerful producers doing this same type of crime against women today. Face it - there are plenty of other Weinstein’s out there now. Will they be called out?

I think there are lots of famous and powerful men who are living in fear right now, wondering if any of the women they harassed or assaulted over the course of their career are going to decide to speak up.

I hope others are outed now, too. Weinstein is a true monster so it’s easy to scapegoat him but I hope that people now have the courage to speak up about other Hollywood executives as well.

I am not following this super closely but one hint that has crossed my mind is if there is any connection with the stories finely being published in main stream media and High Hefner's death. Did he exert some power over media outlets via his own company and/or holdings in a way that he was able to threaten other media companies if they published such stories?

No snark, no sarcasm, but could someone please tell me why this is just NOW coming to light? Why the pile on now?

Harvey Weinstein has gone to Europe. How lovely.

Oh Lindsay. How terribly misguided you are.
