Just answer the questions and move on.

I think you're in the wrong thread.

Nope. Judging a place based on rude border guards is stupid.

Anonymous wrote:I absolutely hated Casablanca. Trash in the streets, like just piles with razor blades and lettuce (I'll never forget it) men eyeing me up and down like I was a whore (I was covered neck to toe in the summer), taxi drivers trying to take advantage. I went pre 9-11 and I'm tall and blonde so that might have worked against me with misogynists.

Interesting because we have traveled quite a bit in Morroco and this is the one place we really felt unsafe. I was not covered but did not get a second glance. I'm fairly dark. My husband is blond and was followed and approached constantly to the point where we were very worried. We didn't have this experience anywhere else in the country.

Razor blades and lettuce

Sounds like a record title

There are a lot of places in Morocco that are much nicer than Casblanca, Marrakesh for example. I consider it the desert equivalent of St Tropez.

DH and I stayed at a tony beachfront property, which was gorgeous, but the city itself felt similar to New York in that it was grungy and kind of chaotic. I was surprised at how many poor people there seemed to be.

You probably would be happier staying in Bal Barbour vicinity

Why do several posters not like Key West? Never been, I'm curious.

I like Key West, so that may mean I'm posting on the wrong thread, but I'll give you my take. We like it because it's warm, the water is beautiful, there is decent kayaking and snorkeling to be had, and a lot of the island is quirky and charming. You actually can go with kids and avoid the seediness.

Downsides? The seediness. I think Duval can be kind of gross. There are cruise ships everywhere dumping out tons of people every day.

What places have disappointed me? I've tried to get excited about the Delaware beaches and Ocean City, but I find them disappointing.

Duval street is a huge turn off for me- bars and t shirt shops. I enjoy a drink but the sheer number of alcoholics is a turn off. The fleecing of tourists at every corner- like the Potemkin "museums" is a turn off.

It is super beautiful in places.

Personally I prefer isla morada which is closer to Miami, much less touristy, and as beautiful in its own way.

Anonymous wrote:Budapest - Not much to do. Grand Cayman - very crowded, not as scenic as I expected.

There is SO much to do. I've been 4 times, just got back from there last week, and did new stuff each time I've gone.

Going to Budapest next week, but most I e talked to eched "nothing to do." Can you tell me what to do there (traveling solo.

Budapest doesn't have a lot of "attractions" per se as compared with other European capitals. You need to insinuate yourself in the culture which is quite special. Then you will have a marvelous adventure.

Yes, we drove into Canada and the first big rest area we came to was FILTHY - right off the interstate - there were used tampons on the floor and no toilet paper - my first impression was a bad one. Also the border crossing guards were absolute assholes.

So what. This is what most visitors to the USA have to deal with.

Just answer the questions and move on.

Angry Canadian is Angry.

I found most of them to be passive-aggressive, too, so the above comment isn't surprising. "Canadian Nice" is only surface-level.

Plus, Tim Horton's coffee was very weak and the maple donuts were made with fake maple flavoring.

I'm American.

Most? You've met 16 million Canadians?

You're joking about Tim Horton's right? There's better cuisine in Canada than that...

Of course not. Many American passport control officers are rude morons. Does that mean that the US is a shitty destination with nothing to offer?

I've never encountered a rude US CBP officer, although I haven't actually talked to one in years post-Global Entry. Before that, though, I've never talked to a rude one, so your argument is invalid.

It doesn't matter though, since it's well-known that Canadian ones are jerks. They seem to think every American is trying to illegally cross the border to live in Canada. Sorry to break it to them, but that's not the case.
