We were troubled by higglers in St. Lucia but I must say the beach where Jade Mountain is located at Anse Chastenet had very good snorkeling - a large patch reef in a bay protected by a cliff, and the Pitons just south of there. We stayed at La Haut (a small B&B in a hillside plantation setting) which in my opinion has absolutely the best view of the Pitons of any resort because of its location set on a hill on the north side of Soufriere. I know lots of people go to Sandals etc. up near Pigeon Point but honestly why go to St. Lucia if not to stare at the Pitons all day from your shady balcony (preferably while your husband feels you up ha ha) |
| Grand Cayman was OK but I can see how people would think it is boring and sterile. It does have the feeling of being constructed for tourists and more money than many other islands. I recommend Little Cayman or Cayman Brac. But not if you need night life, a wide variety of places to eat out and don't like scuba or snorkeling. The diving on Bloody Bay Wall is terrific. Great stars and nice beaches. We spent the mornings diving and the afternoons on bikes looking for a new place to have lunch and new beaches to swim from or scouting for endangered parrots. Or laying in a hammock reading. Other than fishing that's about all there is to do, which was fine by me. |
| I disliked India, but was not expecting to like it. I HATED ITALY which shocked me. People were rude and unhelpful, did not love the food, many areas were filthy. |
| Surprisingly Costa Rica was very underwhelming. Felt like a cash cow the whole time, we got robbed and got scammed, destinations were crowded and unimpressive, not much culture or history to enjoy, food was basic and pretty much the same. |
Have a home in Cape Cod. If you think it's crowded, you're in the wrong place. Martha's Vineyard was nicer before the Presidents went there. Nantucket is lovely, but I hardly go. Both islands are easy to access via ferry. |
LOVE Nantucket. Just got back. Relaxing. Non-stop flights from National daily. 90 min. tops. Rental cars are at the airport, or if you are staying in town just take a taxi, walk daily and take the Wave bus to the beach if you are not at a hotel with shuttle access. |
