Caitlyn Jenner

And here is the problem with Caitlyn Jenner becoming the poster child for transgender issues. She is not going to change people's minds about the above, and if people have never known a transgender person, this is what they will think of: a person who has chosen to live her life in the spotlight and profit off it, who seems to focus more on her makeup and dress and her own happiness than on her relationships with her family (esp. her 2 youngest children), who admits she's no dummy and is going to profit from this occasion, etc.

How was he able to marry and have children knowing that he wanted to be female. How was he able to love and make love to a woman when he wanted to be one himself? He dressed like a man, most transgender a I know want to dress the opposite. It just seems like this came on "all of a sudden". Why after 60 years? Why not sooner?

Society hasn't been that accepting. Bruce tried to live the life that was the "norm". It's not that different than a gay man marrying a woman b/c he is trying to conform to societal standards. This wasn't an all of the sudden thing. Bruce took hormones way back before marrying Kris and there were references to cross-dressing in the E! show.

You can jump up and down all you want, but I'm still calling him Bruce Jenner (and "him."). Go ahead and come back with any smarmy retort you wish, but it's not going to change how many of us feel and speak about this non-issue.

This! Thank you!

I am confused what is a dead name

I'm feeling sad about all this. Bruce Jenner was an Olympic athlete and now a faded memory of greatness. Remember the old photo of him in his track outfit throwing his hands up in the air? And now he's gone.

He's gone crazy, yes. But he's still here, with the same memories, stories, etc. that he always had.

You can jump up and down all you like and use incorrect programs and pout and post on threads you think are a non-issue...but you'll still be a bigot.

Bruce Jenner still has a penis. He can get artificial boobs, artificial butt, artificial face and hair extension. He can wear false eyelashes, wax every hair on his body, put on makeup. Get a cheerleader name. Get hormones.

In the end, he has a penis. For me that means that he is a male who is dressing up as a woman. Yes, a very effeminate, confused and publicity hungry man, who will profit enormously be the reality TV craze.

Can we now forget about the Kardashians and Duggars? They are disgusting.

But you of course can hurl your favorite (rapidly-becoming-meaningless) insult at PP, and consider yourself above the fray. Got it.

It's courageous when Joe Smith transitions to Jane and overcomes all obstacles thrown her way.

It's not all that heroic when Bruce transitions very publicly to Caitlyn given that the media is salivating for someone to say something remotely negative so they can pounce on it. As such, Bruce enjoyed an unprecedented and global support replete with positive media coverage, a gajillion supportive tweets, and the title of hero.

I'm happy for Caitlyn, but her story is not the norm. And she really hasn't had to overcome any adversity. Her transition was easy given her wealth, status and the universal support she has received. They are projecting 500 million in future earnings for her. She's fine. But she's not a hero. She's lucky.

And I wonder when the PC will wear off? Will there ever be a time when it's okay to say something remotely critical of Caitlyn? I'm not talking about the gender issue. Will there ever be a time when tabloids will be allowed to comment on her weight, wrinkles or outfits (like virtually all tabloids do for female celebrities)? What if she has another accident or gets a DUI? Can the media comment on that without being called anti-trans?

Actually, Bruce Jenner is not a woman. He now belongs to the third gender. Maybe more like a South Asian "Hijra"

No he is not a third gender. He is a mentally ill man with breast implants and a mutilated face.

Lets throw "her" a parade...how courageous!!
