Yes, I'm straight. I would be upset if I married a man who has someone on the side. I would do all I could to make sure he was getting everything he wanted in a relationship from me. If I accept a job with my friend, then I am confident she'll accept the experience I've gotten from working with her. My relationship with both my parents is fine. We talk once a week, visit 2-4 times a year.

Mantra of the mistress. Congratulations on being able to please a man so much he is willing to pay you but not willing to make a life with you. Although I like to make my husband and children happy, my primary objective is to lead a proud and happy life and I wish the same for them. My husband has chosen to make a life with me. I would be ashamed if one of my children grew up thinking it would be great to be paid to please someone else's whims.

Men have mistresses because they want an escape. They want to be with someone that they are not attached to, have no commitment/obligation to, owe nothing. Home is full of the responsibilities of real life. The mistress's bedroom is a place to just come and go (pun intended).

Except, he isn't really rich. He sounds well-off, but he can't have but so much disposable income if wifey is a SAHM with a full time nanny and housekeeper. Wifey likely has her own maintainence expenses at the salon, gym, etc. If the oldest kid is 3, he or she is probably in a 20-30k preschool, with younger sib a year or 2 off from going.

It just sounds all so middle class.

Most middle class that I know would be hard pressed to afford regular tanning beds/manis/pedis/highlights/sexy wardrobe/luxe gym membership for the WIFE let alone the mistress.

Can you afford all that for wife and mistress, plus nanny & housekeeper for marital home, plus rent & utilities for love shack, plus high profile preschool for the 3 and 4 year old, plus travel expenses for mistress ALL on high 6 figures? Oh, and she says she can drop a $10,000 charge on his credit card with no explanation.

Only if he is living pay check to pay check or has a trust fund from which he is supplementing. Look at all the DCUMers complaining about how their HHI of $800k isn't enough. If Ms. Honeypot is living in a $2800/mo apt, the marital home would have to be more pricey.

I really don't consider the high six figures to be middle class - there is nothing "middle" about an income like that. That is just plain rich in my view.
