Again, maybe the CFP should exclude independent football teams for consideration. Could limit consideration to the top several teams in each conference in addition to automatic qualification for each conference champion.

What you guys can't seem to accept is that Notre Dame was considered. They were considered alongside Alabama, Miami, & Duke, and ND didn't make the cut. It's not jealousy, it's not vengeance, it's not anti-Catholic sentiment. It's just that they had a weaker schedule and lost a head-to-head against one of the other teams in a similar situation.

There will always be arguments to be made that a team that falls right outside of the top 12 is somehow getting the shaft. But when you have two losses you have to be prepared to feel that feeling; you shouldn't take for granted that you're defintely making the CFP with that record. I'd feel much more sympathy for a Boise State that went 13-0 and got left out of the CFP due to a "weak schedule" than for ND having 2 losses but expecting their Extreme Generational Specialness to carry them over the finish line.

Solid response, but you seem to have missed the main point of my post.

Essentially, I am encouraging my beloved Notre Dame football team to either join a conference or move their butts to the CFL.

I feel Freeman is going to jump at an NFL offer especially after all this bad publicity. The timing just seems right for him with all this uncertainty in college football especially for Notre Dame. I'm becoming doubtful he coaches at Notre Dame next year.

HC Freeman should not leave Notre Dame. Although I am disgusted by Notre Dame's reaction to the CFP decision, I understand that Notre Dame is now in the driver's seat more than before. Why ? Because Notre Dame football must make a move to join a conference or risk becoming irrelevant in the world of college football.

The Big Ten Conference wants Notre Dame; the SEC wants Notre Dame; the ACC wants Notre Dame; even the Canadian Football League(CFL) wants Notre Dame. In the world of negotiations, Notre Dame is in a position of power. Why ? Because as all salespeople know, Notre Dame is ready to buy.

Easiest option for ND football is to join the ACC where ND football can dominate and dictate its own terms.

Most difficult option is the SEC where ND football will be pummeled to a pulp and wish for the good old days of playing against ACC pansies, Colgate, and Navy.

The Big Ten Conference is the obvious option due to geography & academics.

But why not consider a lesser conference ? ND football is a dept at pounding on weaklings. ND football likes being the Prima Donna.

The truth is that this may be Notre Dame football's last hurrah before becoming irrelevant as the rest of the college football world moves on.

I think that at this point, there's a universal consensus that Notre Dame football is soft and absolutely pathetic. And that will affect recruiting and portal transfers.

Notre Dame made some terrible decisions - the cupcake schedule and their prissy response in recent days. It's definitely going to affect recruiting.

There's a very good chance Notre Dame football will suck going forward. Who wants to play on that team with that kind of leadership?

Apparently, you're a big idiot. ND played in the national championship and received 20M for reaching the title game, and ND did not have to share that 20M with anyone. Ohio State, on the other hand, has to share that 20M with the Big10 conference.

ND is also getting a lot of money from NBC for broadcasting ND's games. ND has a lot more money for NIL to have a better football roster in 2026. Furthermore, in 2026, there is a Memo of Understanding (MoU) that if ND finishes in the top 12th, it is automatically qualified for the playoff.

I'm not who you are responding to, but in fairness, ND has not won a National Championship in 40 years. Now IU has passed them as the best college football team in Indiana. It's a different ERA now in college football. You're stuck in the 80's still Just sayin.
