Closed on Friday or early closing?

NOVA (community college system) has all campuses closed today. Originally they were going to open at 11 am but then at around 9 am communicated the closure.

Apples to oranges.

Exactly…we should expect adults aged 18+ to commute in these conditions before we expect children and teen drivers to.

The Fairfax County PD asked people to stay off the roads if possible. That should have been a big clue for FCPS.

It is still snowing and going to last for another hour. Really bad call.

The bus delay page does have more delays than is typical, but a lot of them are at the non-neighborhood schools or programs (Quander, Alternative Paths, etc.), the preschool programs, and AAP busing. So kids who usually have a longer bus ride anyway because they’re not attending their neighborhood school. The neighborhood buses seemed to do pretty well today all things considered. https://busdelay.fcps.edu/

Why are we talking about teen drivers? The school system provides buses. If you have a situation where your child does not have a bus or walking route, you have decided to put them in that position.

Are they going to cancel all after school activities?

You can't change back and forth on bus or no bus based on the weather. Teens listed with the transportation office as no bus would need to drive or be driven today--there is no bus provided for them.

You’re joking right? Look at all the weather delays. Woodson HS kids didn’t get to school until nearly 9 am??

It was a two hour delay. I don’t think high schools started until 10 am.

Teen can’t walk to the nearest stop where others are waiting? Are they refused when they try to ride a bus they aren’t assigned to? Our bus was weirdly changed a month after school started with no notification, only listed in ParentVue. My teen still goes to the original stop and hasn’t been denied on the bus and no, the bus isn’t anywhere close to being full.

Woodson had 3 buses delayed. 3 buses out of how many - it’s got to be at least 20? How many students are delayed and how many got there on time?

Yes, I bet they are going to cancel all the after school activities.

They are denied entry, yes. They are not riders on that bus route.

WRONG! You’re making things up. FCPS bus drivers cannot deny a student who is at a bus stop. If the driver believes that a student should not be riding the bus, they let the supervisor and the school principal know.

Yup I too am wondering about after school activities as my kid has a track meet.
Seems like they would not cancel since it’s supposed to stop snowing and roads don’t seem like they’ll get worse.
We’ll see.
I’m new to winter HS sports.
Must be dicey getting games & meets in during the winter
