Where can we see these pics online? What news source?

Someone was posting pictures of the line at Fairfax HS to FCPS’s “first day of school” Facebook post.

Bus was 30 minutes late and arrived 8:05 so a whole 5 minutes for security- line was snaked around building

Do students go through metal detectors when go in/out for gym? So when go from building to track field, when come back inside so they go through metal detectors again?

What is an “M” school? McLean and Madison? lol, this isn’t like the W schools in MoCo.

There's also Marshall. (and outside of FCPS, Meridian. the boundaries all abut each other and use M's as part of their logos. So it's sort of like the W schools in MoCo.)

Imagine kids dashing out of the bus, flashing through the detector, sprinting through the hallway, and falling on their seats at 8:10 in just 2-5 minutes. oh, some of them may also need to fly from the first to the second floor before entering their 1st period classroom.

And this is without laptops right? I know in ES the devices don't get issued until later in the first week of school.

this....so today will be quicker for a lot of students who don't have laptops and/or binders....next week will be a whole new game

hmmmm, some poster wrote that the situation would get better after the first 2 weeks.

High school students should have picked up their laptops at open house.

The only ones without laptops are the ones who missed open house.

HAHA nope-our high schools hasn't even sent any information about laptops.

Are you in FCPS?

My three kids were at open houses and laptops were not issued. Maybe high schools do it differently.

Every high school is different. Fairfax gave out laptops. Lake Braddock did not.

Not true.
My DD -new to LBSS- got her laptop at Orientation.
Bruin Blast was the 2nd opportunity for the laptop. Or 3rd opportunity is 1st period on the 1st day of school.

Same w WSHS.

The kids actually have to go pick up laptops at open house.

A lot of kids choose to skip that line because they don't want to wait in line.

I think Marshall, but maybe Madison.

Our HS does not give out laptops before school starts.

Why do people assume that if their particular HS does it some way that every other schools is the same?

Useless without identifying the school.
A school that screened 2500-3000 students with no issues on the first day of school should be sharing their unique approach with the other schools.

Never seen a better summary of why they should split the district into several smaller ones. What's the point of having a unified district that isn't unified?
