All three are respected in certain fields but as a whole they're near the top of the 2nd tier. BC has surprisingly good investment banking placement better than Vanderbilt WashU, Rice, UT. Slightly below Emory/Notre Dame.

Nothing wrong with that.

The first term would have to be 35 national universities and 20+ SLACs then. BC can’t even beat Illinois and UF in rankings.

Different cohorts - public vs private.

Is Berkeley better than Northeastern? Or are they different cohorts and can’t be compared?

The fact that you're even putting UC Berkeley and Northeastern in the same sentence shows what a dufus you are.

“Is northeastern the same level as one of the best private research universities in the world with towering faculty awards and prominent graduate researchers?”

Hmm. I’m not sure.🤣

Georgetown and Notre Dame are above BC. BC's peer groups are more like Tufts, Northeastern, Holy Cross, NYU, Wake, UVA, etc.

Most students at BC had their first choice be Georgetown or Notre Dame I'm sure.

UVA hater. UVa is also better, NYU too.

UVA and BC are the same tier to anyone not affiliated with UVA or BC.

Please explain. Berkeley is a better school in every regard.

Not at all. UVA has a much better reputation among people who matter and the alumni connections are better. It’s also ridiculous how much “community” and “student life” is thrown around when boosting BC when Boston has the strictest bars and there are no fraternities. If you want to have a couple shots in your dorm room and call it a wild Friday night at 11pm then go to BC.

I agree but the second tier is not elite. UVA and Umich, Wellesley are the very bottom of elite imo. Like scape the barrel bottom.

Good move. “Maybe if I sneak Princeton in there they’ll ignore the other three schools, all of which are also markedly better than BC”

I don’t know what you’re talking about, and your response is mostly just speculation about “people who matter.” They’re the same thing.

No one on here or other forums or in high finance says UVA Wellesley UMich are $hit schools. They may think they’re disappointing outcomes for a terrific applicant. Some do say BC is a trash destination.

Boston college is very elite. UCLA isn’t even a top 50 college, and it struggles to get apps. How can it be better than BC?

You may think BC is the greatest place on Esrth but if you want to convince anyone of that, you should start smaller. Saying “it isn’t as good as NYU but it is close. I think it isn’t unreasonable to group it with NYU Tufts and maybe Emory” is the reasonable approach. Comparing it to WUSTL, Vanderbilt, and even MIT on here is delusional. A normal reader of this blog will realize there’s something very off and weird about BC if it inspires this much conversation.

All this thread shows is there are 1-2 trolls bored during winter break stirring up ish about BC to see how far they can take it.

Bingo. Ignore them.

Not really. MA suburban minivan drivers in Boston exurbs think BC is Harvard tier and scream about it to anyone who will listen. They fall under “some college” and don’t know any better.

Yea! And students at BC are uglier than Californians too!

BC has horrible student life once you move beyond watching thugs on a football field or basketball court. There are no fraternities and Boston bars actually card you to see if you’re 21.

People who matter don’t hold BC in high regard or in the same regard as NYU WUSTL UCLA Emory. Do I need to be clearer? What confuses you? Do Jesuit schools no longer teach logic and reasoning?
