WHO? New Democratic Nominee Thread

It can be like the Trump case where the jury can have different opinions about what crime was committed.

Just everyone vote for Biden on the ballot then in November the party will discuss who will be the president and the electors will vote for that person in December.

yep, I love this from him. Voting for the democrats no matter what. And so are my friends and family.

Ok then, problem solved! He sent out an explanatory tweet.

Pay no attention to the fact that he was non stop horrible at the one event where he’s not reading off a teleprompter.

not really true. the first 15 or so minutes were rough, but as it went on, and in the three events since, he has been fine

He was very bad. Not only was his voice raspy but he mumbled his words and, even with a mic, barely spoke above a whisper. I never thought I would want him to give up but It's time for him to retire.

His final statement was just as bad as his opening statement.

Yes but the choice is between him and Trump. The majority of the country would rather vote for anyone beside Trump. It will be another John Fetterman. That turned out yo be a total disaster.

That’s what many are betting on: a vote for Biden is a vote against Trump.

But what people might realize:

A vote for Biden is a vote for it’s okay to elect someone not capable of being President as President bc he has advisers (a slippery slope for Democracy!)

A vote for Biden is a vote for continued foreign war funding

A vote for Biden is a vote for a man who says he wants to bring back Roe but cannot bc it is unlikely that any of the older SC justices will retire during his Presidency (at most maybe 1 maybe 2 but not enough to change the dynamic of the court)

A vote for Biden is a for Trump but we survived last time

A vote against Biden might help clear the field for younger Democrats and put us in a stronger position in 4 years. (Whereas 4 more years of Biden makes the election in 4 years increasingly at risk and we could get someone much worse than Trump)

A vote against Biden sends a message to the party that they need to look up from their own navel gazing and listen to their voters

Now I am sure people will comment that unless we vote against Trump our Democracy is at risk and we might never vote again….but I’m not sure I really believe this anymore after the party and Joe’s closest clearly lied to us. Also, I fundamentally do not think that Biden can win: Latino voters are turned off bc of social issues, Muslim voters (only matter in MI but still) hate his guts for hugging Israel,
Younger voters are not inspired, Black voters are not excited and a greater % is ready to vote Trump.

One candidate is not in favor of Israel using huge bombs to drop on Gaza and one is in favor of Israel using huge bombs to drop on Gaza. I think your Michigan voters know which one is which.

Both polarizing figures.

No.

Buttigieg
Pro: great speaker and debater. Intelligent, practical, knowledgeable on domestic policies.
Con: white male with no particular support from Black and Hispanic communities.

Whitmer
Pro: woman, experience leading a State
Con: white woman, same as above

I'm sorry, but saying a candidate at this point is BAD because they are a white male is what is WRONG with the Democratic party. If it takes a white male to win then so be it.

I can see a Kamala Harris / Gretchen Whitmer ticket.

The Gavin is too Californian, bless him.

Kathy hochul
Katie Hobbs
Cooper (North Carolina)
Ptitzker
Whitmer

Let’s not give this away to trump folks. Let’s keep fighting to do the right thing, run a fit candidate. Biden in his prime would have wanted us to do just that.

I'm still voting for Biden. It's a choice between a morally decent senile old man and a morally wretched old man with dementia. Either way we're getting an old man with compromised faculties.

All this does is make it more important to vote down ticket because Congress just became more important.

This is will destroy down ticket. I foresee a lot of democrats sitting at home if Biden continues to be the nominee. I live in a very blue state, and even here, there will be significant consequences in November in state elections.

We all have to make a tough choice. But I’m not willing to undermine democracy even in the name of saving it. That’s the same logic of the maga insurrectionists. It basically justifies any grab for power by any entity. We are depressingly close to the movie civil war.

We should boycott any candidate from either party

I've been going back and forth on my analysis of this.

In Ohio and Montana it might increase the necessity of split ticket voting which puts the Senate back in play. In CA and NY it might depress turnout which could impact the House.

In short, it makes Trump leaning voters more likely to vote D down ballot while making Biden leaning voters less likely to turnout.

She does this a lot. On debate night in 3 different interviews she said the exact same "Slow start, but I thought he had a really strong ending."

The democrats brought this on themselves by putting forth the likes of Biden and Harris. Get ready for Trump to Make America Great Again, again!

The Republicans brought this current crisis into reality by choosing Trump instead on one of the other candidates, who could at least be possibly sane.

Focus. This thread is about the absolute disaster that is Biden/Harris.

The Democrats brought this on themselves by…voting.

It’s not lost on me the party that has been insisting on the integrity of all our elections wants to find a rule besides the 25th Amendment to nominate an unelected candidate in a few weeks.

I won’t bother voting next time. What’s the point?

Depressingly good point.
