WHO? New Democratic Nominee Thread

Anonymous
DEMs clearly need to get their ish together.

Trump is not unbeatable he's not really a strong candidate,

Strategically I think it would make sense for the independents to run they can do this with support from Democrats behind the scenes.
candidate... Charlie Baker where are you...

Sadly I think you’re right. The Dems needed to run with a fresh candidate starting last year and I think it’s too late now even if Biden did step aside.

It matters how one loses in life.

You can lose like a coward, fielding a candidate who is too decrepit for the job, yet who has the hubris of thinking they've still got it. You'd be no better than a Trump fan, a follower of a liar who believes their own lies.

Or you can lose with the courage to choose something new and untested, and make a last charge.

I'm the latter camp.

It is crystal clear to me that Biden has to be pushed to step aside in favor of Kamala Harris as Presidential candidate, with a centrist VP.

At least we'd have tried.

Harris is being pushed aside with Biden.

No she isn't that would be a catastrophic mistake. They'll run her, with a white male VP,

My pitch:
Joe Biden steps aside
Huge surge of respect and affection for him in party
He takes leadership and anoints Whitmer and Warnock. Pitches pass the generational torch, crush Trump, save Democracy, historic 1st female President.
Surge in polls, +6 over Trump. Party delirious with joy.
Kamala joins parade. No other choice. EZ convention. Coronation.
Trump Crushed. Win House.

Someone like Whitmer would crush Trump, no doubt, but there are many other candidates that could crush Trump as well. The key factor is whether or not Biden has enough wherewithal to do the right thing.

She trails Trump by 12 points.

"She" isn't running for president at the moment. If she were, she would crush your Trump master into the ground so deep that you and your Maga friends would never see the light of day again. Swing voters aren't stupid. They will vote for fit and qualified over Trump all day, any day. You better hope Biden doesn't drop out. If he does, Trump 2024 will be a failure as it should be.

LOL. She looks like a witch and has zero charisma. She would get obliterated by Trump.

Signed,
Committed Biden voter who would rather have Biden that Gretchen the Witch or serial killer lookalike Newsom

I do not understand how someone can say they prefer Biden, who apparently can only function 6 hours a day now and I can’t imagine what he will be like in another 2 years, over relatively young governors with experience running large states. But by all means focus on their physical appearance 🙄 You are no better than the MAGA extremists and are actively part of the problem. There is no one who should be blindly supporting Joe Biden remaining the leader of the free world for another 4 years given what we have seen.

I’m not a traitor. It’s Joe or no one else. Full stop.

Top Dems have been lying to us about Biden’s mental capacity and energy for a long time.

You expected something different?

This is such a circumvention of the democratic process. A handful of party insiders waits until the joke of a primary is over before deciding who the real candidate is.

And then whoever it is gets four months of 100% fawning press for the younger candidate who saves us from both Biden and Trump. Oh well, bring it on.

Joe was great until he started hanging on to power past his expiration date.

But I cannot abide someone who become delusional in old age. Biden thinks he's still got it. He doesn't. It's been very obvious for a few months now.

Since Trump and his pet GOP are way past listening to the voice of reason, I was hoping someone in the Biden camp would be amenable to persuading Biden to step aside. He must do so in order for another Dem to win the White House.

If Biden clings to his nomination, he has a very small chance of being reelected because Democrats usually don't like self-serving people who place themselves ahead of the country. That's what Republicans do.

And if by some miracle Joe is reelected, then all our enemies will start testing his decline by a series of assaults in Ukraine, Taiwan, the Koreas, the Middle East, etc... The US will face a wave of hostility from our many, many enemies we've made over the decades because they know our leader isn't all there.

With Trump they'll be a little more circumspect because Trump is famously unpredictable and uses violent rhetoric. But he'll do their job for them anyway, with disastrous choices, like hand Ukraine to Russia.

So right now neither choice is within space shuttle distance of acceptable, people.

We need a new Democratic ticket!

I appreciate the loyalty, I guess? But here’s the thing, this election isn’t going to decided by the voters for either party that have dug in with either Trump or Biden. It’s going to be decided by those who don’t love either of them. Do those voters hold their nose and pick one, and if so who does that favor; or do they just not vote because they can’t bring themselves to vote for either, and who would that favor?

There will be no replacement. Biden will remain and he will win in a landslide.

Welp, they're going to sink the the entire ship. Especially because those Dems are sticking to party language to prop up Biden and just attack Trump >> which is not working for them. Trotting more people out to reassure the country is just banging your head on the wall.

I was really hoping for change. I honestly think we need a moms demand action group to take over the Democratic party.

+1 you ain’t kidding. Democrat party faithful are being treated as mushrooms: kept in the dark and fed shit. It’s unbelievable.

yep, I love this from him. Voting for the democrats no matter what. And so are my friends and family.

Ok then, problem solved! He sent out an explanatory tweet.

Pay no attention to the fact that he was non stop horrible at the one event where he’s not reading off a teleprompter.

not really true. the first 15 or so minutes were rough, but as it went on, and in the three events since, he has been fine

He was very bad. Not only was his voice raspy but he mumbled his words and, even with a mic, barely spoke above a whisper. I never thought I would want him to give up but It's time for him to retire.

His final statement was just as bad as his opening statement.

She does this a lot. On debate night in 3 different interviews she said the exact same "Slow start, but I thought he had a really strong ending."

The democrats brought this on themselves by putting forth the likes of Biden and Harris. Get ready for Trump to Make America Great Again, again!

The Republicans brought this current crisis into reality by choosing Trump instead on one of the other candidates, who could at least be possibly sane.

Focus. This thread is about the absolute disaster that is Biden/Harris.

The Democrats brought this on themselves by…voting.

It’s not lost on me the party that has been insisting on the integrity of all our elections wants to find a rule besides the 25th Amendment to nominate an unelected candidate in a few weeks.

I won’t bother voting next time. What’s the point?

Yes but the choice is between him and Trump. The majority of the country would rather vote for anyone beside Trump. It will be another John Fetterman. That turned out yo be a total disaster.

That’s what many are betting on: a vote for Biden is a vote against Trump.

But what people might realize:

A vote for Biden is a vote for it’s okay to elect someone not capable of being President as President bc he has advisers (a slippery slope for Democracy!)

A vote for Biden is a vote for continued foreign war funding

A vote for Biden is a vote for a man who says he wants to bring back Roe but cannot bc it is unlikely that any of the older SC justices will retire during his Presidency (at most maybe 1 maybe 2 but not enough to change the dynamic of the court)

A vote for Biden is a for Trump but we survived last time

A vote against Biden might help clear the field for younger Democrats and put us in a stronger position in 4 years. (Whereas 4 more years of Biden makes the election in 4 years increasingly at risk and we could get someone much worse than Trump)

A vote against Biden sends a message to the party that they need to look up from their own navel gazing and listen to their voters

Now I am sure people will comment that unless we vote against Trump our Democracy is at risk and we might never vote again….but I’m not sure I really believe this anymore after the party and Joe’s closest clearly lied to us. Also, I fundamentally do not think that Biden can win: Latino voters are turned off bc of social issues, Muslim voters (only matter in MI but still) hate his guts for hugging Israel,
Younger voters are not inspired, Black voters are not excited and a greater % is ready to vote Trump.
