Video out of the request for a continuance (court appearance date was changed from Mar 21 to June4). The DA sounds like an a** on it, especially when Scottie’s attorney points out that is “when appropriate” refers only to remote appearances (not the case here) and that contrary to what they’re saying his client is indeed being treated differently. |
That hearing was bizarre and embarrassing for the prosecution. The hapless prosecutor seemed angry that Scheffler had flown home, even though Scheffler’s attorney said that he would fly back for the arraignment the next day if the request for continuance wasn’t granted. |
The DA probably isn't used to dealing with defendants how have real attorneys. I'm sure they see their career evaporating |
How would you refer to cops who falsify records in order to railroad innocent citizens? |
Knowing what the motion you're opposing is asking for feels like a very bare minimum. I don't consider myself a particularly great attorney, but it turns out the floor is in the basement. |
If they can do this to a multi millionaire white golfer with the resources, fan support and media attention to fight it, imagine what power drunk unstable low IQ police do to every day citizens! |
He was grandstanding, but in an exceedingly incompetent manner. All he had to do was either oppose the motion or not oppose, but he kept on blathering about god knows what |
[quote]How in the world could any driver prevent an over-zealous, hysterical cop from believing his body could stop any vehicle? Seems to me that’s not a confused driver’s liability but rather a common sense, maturity, or a Training liability. Let’s not forget, (again); fleeing is not Felony or Life-Threatening action. How is it civilians know this, but even Adolescent males under 21-25yo, who’ve only been driving a few years have received a Death Sentence for a traffic/license/insurance revenue violation? I’ve long believed, sending out traffic fines or 1st offense warnings to license plate owners or addresses would be far safer for Law personnel & definitely for the Public; rather than sudden personal interactions. Therefore all those mutual emotions would be eliminated from traffic law. Felonies could take priority for Law Enforcement. Investing in cameras along roadways would be money well spent for misdemeanors and investigation tools for felonies. Recordings are better witnesses to any criminal behaviors. At least until Law Enforcement has Licensure & Academic requirements as every Professional who serves Public Citizens but has a potential to cause harm; Barbers, Electricians, etc. And until Cops receive equal salaries as other Public Professionals! A uniform nor a title does a professional create…. Professionals have to protect & earn their State Licensures by adhering to State/National Standards Operating Procedures and earning skills, comprehension, & understanding of Public & services that vary in a every civil society. Police like Medical Professionals interact with Humans at their most vulnerable, worst, or emotional states of being. Though Law Enforcement has not been provided any Sociology or Mental Health courses/assessment skills?! Yet they’re required to understand protect & serve Society’s Humans? States leave these professionals to unskilled assumptions stereotypes & immature labeling. Then all are shocked when biases create traumatic deadly errors or harmful presumptions We witness repeatedly without corrections?! Traumatic events are experienced mutually. And repeatedly occur needlessly, permanently, avoidably, & shared outwardly to Families of Law Enforcement and Public Citizens over & over without any corrections. I was responsible for investigating correcting and preventing ANY repeat of Staff or Patient errors or damages in Emergency Services and Crisis’ of Humans within USM & Civil Sevices without weapons. I’m not big but I’ve taken down folks in
unstable Mental Crises…. It can be done. And errors can be avoided without violence but skill & experience. I know many Law Agents who have expressed the same as usual & typical, not rare. When Public has fear & anxiety, Professionals are calm, confident, & depend on learned skills not emotions. |
Wow they really don’t ever want to host another golf tournament there. I hope the golf world obliges. |
All I can think is that the prosecutor knows that the whole thing is blowing up and wanted to get the "public" portion of the matter over and done with ASAP. Then he can deal with the dismissal behind the curtains.
Now -- its a problem. Just look at this thread. More and more information is coming out and all of it is terrible for the prosecution. We now have: 1. Agreement by the Police Dept that the Detective involved did not turn on his body camera and that violated Department policy. The Detective has been disciplined for that violation. 2. The only video the police have of any portion of the incident consists of the 2 camera views we have seen, and 2 more that have not been released publicly but which, according to the police, show nothing additional. Think about that for a second. Look at the camera views we do have made public. How many cops do you see? How many police cars do you see? Only 3 working cameras? (One video released comes from a pole camera and not a police camera.) No one else had their camera on? 3. We know the Police Chief tried to cover up a crime committed by a relative in the past. 4. We know what is missing - there is no video of the Detective being hit/entangled with Scheffler's car, or falling down. 5. We know that Scheffler was charged with several crimes, including a felony assault charge against a police officer. And the huge one -- we know that Scheffler is charged with a felony for things we can see on a video. And, we know that the Republican Party had been pushing for a major revamp of our immigration laws where we would hold any immigrant charged with a felony pending resolution of those charges. The Republican Party knows that position is swirling the drain pipe right now, because ---- everyone can see the crap that gets charged as a felony. Det. Gillies is not who the Republican Party wants as a standard barer for their cornerstone get tough on immigrants policy. Republicans wanted to campaign on the position that getting charged with a felony is a serious thing so we need to be tough. Except .... look was charged as a felony against the number 1 golfer in the world outside of the country club where the PGA championship is being held. If cops would do that to Scottie Scheffler, they certainly would be more than happy to do that to some brown skinned poor immigrant. There was about a 2 hour period when someone with some common sense could have stepped in at the police station and said -- we are not filling charges here. Once that grace period expired -- huge huge huge problem. |
This article points out that the if he were treated like everyone else the head DA wouldn’t have even been there opposing a simple continuance. |
1000% |
So long Louisville. |
The golf workd prefers how cops have treated Tiger Woods for his reckless driving related difficulties. |
