She clipped an ugly man! |
That would make Madeira infamous, not famous. The administration/students must hate being known for that scandal. |
We went on a trip to Europe. We met some folks and when the found out that our son play HS Basketball, they asked if he played for DeMatha. We had to tell them no, but was curious how they knew about DeMatha: Morgan Wootten and sports channels |
Writing to all of you from 35,000 feet over the Indian Ocean, on way to Indonesia. Sitting next to a Balinese princess. When i tell her I'm American, she smiles and asks, "so wonderful, can you please tell be about BASIS?" As always, I'm wearing my frayed, unwashed, long neglected (but too be replaced by fall 2026, for sure this time!) Sidwell sweatshirt. I ask, "don't you want to hear about Sidwell?" A blank stare and she returns to her Gilmore Girls binge. |
| She must have not heard of Harvard then |
I’m the PP. DP posted NYT. Do it’s a think. Sorry, not sorry |
What? Are you drinking? |
Post the PD from the NTY. Remember the days when we weren't #2. |
Still incoherent. You’re definitely under the influence. Get some sleep and sober up! 🤦♀️ |
You obviously know nothing about Power 😝 |
| DeMatha. Most famous. Only famous. |

We can't conflate fame with prestige or rigor or social status. I don't think anyone arguing that it's any school other than Sidwell is saying that the non-Sidwell school is the most prestigious or rigorous. They're responding to the original question which was, which school is considered the most famous at a national level. There's solid evidence and data to support the claims that it may not be Sidwell.
But even if it is, why do people feel the need to trash other schools and get so defensive? It's a dumb question to begin with. It's one thing to have a friendly debate over these things, it's another to demean other institutions that serve their students well because you disagree with another poster. Honestly, at the end of the day, who really cares? |
Well said, it's one thing for the Sidwell parents to attack STA. Pretty ridiculous, but who cares. But all of the attacks by Sidwell parents in Dematha is just mean. Stop being so insecure! |
Don’t forget elitist and racist, too. That’s why I’ve been one of the posters speaking up for Dematha. I have literally no dog in the fight—I have a girl—but I don’t like the things people have been saying about Dematha and trying to dim its light. It’s a great school, extremely well known and a great choice for lots of kids. |

It’s only Sidwell.
It’s even in a Tyler Perry movie, at least 3 novels etc. Plus it is what NYT said |
