2024 Girls Lax WCAC ISL Outlook

i get that everyone wants to write off SSSA, but based on what i see they have basically split each year with SR, beaten Potomac, and split with Visi over the past 2 years. I would not be quick to dismiss them this year. They are by no means the best team in the area but could very well upset any of the top teams.

SSSAS 2 best players (soph twins) are both out for the season with injuries.

SSSAS will still be very good and will always be in contention despite the injuries.

SJC team last year should've been a championship contending team and yet they underperformed and didn't make it. That is the fault of many, but they deserved better with all of that talent.

Neutral party here. I have to say that this line of criticism sounds like one or two parents disgruntled over playing time. Other than not playing a bench, there has been no other explanation of "coaching" issues. But they should have "taken action" like at Visi? What? After going 7-1 in league...

Didn't go too well for Visi, as they didn't have a coach for the whole recruiting cycle.

SSSA played St. John’s at the Bullis play day. The bench players didn’t see the field in our scrimmage either. Actually thought that was odd that she wouldn’t play her roster in a scrimmage.

Parent of another WCAC team - subbing isn't just about getting more kids in, it's about developing your depth so if something happens, like an injury or a star just having a bad day, you are still able to perform well. She does not do that. Against DD team last year they used 1 sub the entire game. Kids get tired and need a minute to reset some times or to talk to their coaches 1-on-1 and it can't always wait for a TO.

I think instead of discussing who doesn’t sub, it might be interesting to hear what coaches sub consistently. My impression is there’s not a lot of subbing anywhere, but my view is limited.

The SJC community has been very kind not to share details on DCUM about the way DCSAA was mishandled last year, along with a host of other leadership missteps that occurred last season. Parents are well aware of what happened but have stayed silent out of respect for the coach as a person. Before that changes, the coach might be better served by looking inward, listening to the feedback she is being given, and doing things differently this year.

What needs to be done differently? Maybe they just don’t have the talent? Better recruiting? The boys team seems to do it well.

Yet on here, posters seem to think they have/are bringing in talent?

Why, after a fairly successful season last year, is there so much discord @ SJC? Is this just a few disgruntled parents whose kids are not getting on the field? Or more widespread?

Then you clearly weren’t there last year.
