Agreed. GC plays Visi on Tuesday.

Potomac should be in the mix too.

Not a parent at SR or SJC, but an observer at the game. SR did NOT sit their starters out. SJC made a run, but was outplayed most of the game. Unfortunate yellow cards - two questionable ones, in the first half didn't help. SR draw specialist is the truth. She is phenomenal on the draw and SJC did not have an answer for her. Yes, the two '23 midfielders were a key for the team last year, but they have talent without them. They have the Yale commit (face guarded most of the game and shut down SR's top players on defense), the Penn commit (fast and quick) and some strong attackers. They lack depth and that is their problem. Their goalie play was not the best whereas SR goalie play was impressive. SR is just a better all-around team. They have depth and solid coaching. SJC starters will run out of gas in every game and they have no one to really sub in for them.

but SJC is a good team with great players, SR is just a better team. SJC clean up some of the mistakes, play like a team and I still think they will be in the WCAC championship against GC. I did not say they would WIN the WCAC - before you start attacking.

No way SJC even sniffs the championship game BI is legit this year new coach new attitude I witnessed it myself. PVI is still a factor out in the sticks as well. Both of those teams have a way better shot of making it to the championship against GC before SJC does.

Without the NW and Harvard 2023s, Yale commit is focus of other teams defenses now. SJC coach is not one to sub much and has not developed her team’s depth. The loss of the 2 midfielders really puts the strain on the other midfielders because now there is 0 depth there.

The Yale commit is the real deal. Didn’t sjc lose to holy child last year when she missed the game?

Yale commit is great - for sure. But it is a team sport. They have excellent talent in '24 Harvard, Penn commits, young talent in the '26 attacker who is a force and some underclassman who seem to be rising to the occasion. That plus UMASS attacker and others. But as everyone has said, they need depth and truthfully much better coaching.

Quick hi five for everyone who gave recap/breakdown of game vs other nonsense.

They have some other talented players that don’t see the field. SJC Coach plays a very short bench. Doesn’t really develop players. I agree the biggest difference was goalie play. I would also add free position scoring was not good.

I liked what I saw from SR on defense. They didn’t tip toe around the front of the crease when the ball was at X. They were aggressive and pressured the girls at X. Made them uncomfortable the entire game. Coaching was a difference maker.

SJC coach seemed to have been a challenge last year too and that has not changed. The school seems very slow to take action unlike Visi. SJC team last year should've been a championship contending team and yet they underperformed and didn't make it. That is the fault of many, but they deserved better with all of that talent.

So, at a Catholic school the only metric of success is a championship? 12-5 overall, 7-1 in the league (which MaxPreps says is 2nd) and the school should have taken action?

Coaching your children must be a delight with you in the background.

SJC or BI will play and get crushed by GC in the WCAC finals this year. PVI is rebuilding and will likely not be in the picture.

Do better? How about she does better and develops her talent and puts her team in the best position to win. Your starters are your starters but you need depth to beat the top teams consistently, especially at the midfield. All of the top teams - GC, SR, Visi - sub their star midfielders during games even for a few minutes.
