Milton seems wise beyond his years and he also doesn’t seem to put up with bs. Maybe this is a good balance for both of them. He brings a calmness to her life and she brings that emotional component that he feels is lacking. Besides, he isn’t that young. If the ages were reversed, nobody would say a word.


In the contrary, I feel like she totally manipulated him (in her desperation to marry someone, anyone).

Agree with this. She's grateful to be loved, that's clear, but she doesn't love him the same way. I hope he'll be okay.
