Being a committed D1 athlete, top 20 or top 100, is an honor very few girls get. And regardless of top 20 lax or not, they all need to get jobs. I am embarrassed as a parent and an adult that a young woman who has worked her butt off to get an offer to…let’s say Clemson, saw that adults had an opinion on her academic and lacrosse choice. I mean, it’s not a”good school”. Shame on you. And yes, the girls look at this site esp during lax season when parents do nothing but talk crap about their school, coach and sometimes players.

And for the record, Ivy's give plenty of $ to athletes. Yes, not athletic, but the academic money is there and you don’t have to have opened a school in Rwanda and have a 5.0GPA. So, money does flow.

Most ivys no longer give merit.

No athletic and no merit at Ivies.

Merit is offered at ivies but the income threshold is very low.

I think you are conflating merit and financial aid scholarship money.Merit scholarships (aka “merit aid”) are based solely on academic performance. Ivies and many other very high academic schools do not offer any merit aid/merit scholarships. Financial aid scholarships are based solely on financial need and are available at all schools.

Anonymous wrote:It’s actually a sign of how stupid college coaches often are. Many good players get offers before some great players. It’s so political and often based more on existing relationships and back scratching than true evaluation of one player v another.

That’s just dumb. You really think a college coach is going to pass over a great player because of relationships and back scratching? Different coaches look for different traits and skills based on team needs, type of offense or defense run, upside athleticism, team chemistry, dominant hand etc. They are all trying to build the best team they can.

None of us parents are better talent evaluators than college coaches, especially the successful ones.

There’s also other factors that determine who gets selected first. The player may be waiting to hear from another school, or the coach may want to get them in for a visit first. And most D3 coaches don’t even get serious about recruiting until after the D1 feeding frenzy is over.

I’ve been through the process, and it is still very early.

So, at less than a month in, half (12) of the Cap blue team is committed to (mostly) top D1 schools, although no ivies. That’s great. For comparison, M&D has 13 committed but to a less impressive list overall but does include one ivy. Both have girls committed to UNC, ND, and Stanford. So overall very comparable results so far.

This so weird. At what point do Capital parents applaud their success and quit caring about Baltimore teams. Not yet apparently.

I think they were simply stating that the results were comparable. As in they are both great programs?

Very impressive lists from both Capital and M&D. Still not understanding why Capital doesn't post on social media.

UVA has gotten at least 1 from Cav Elite, so they are working the state.
