Is Bullis the new Sidwell??

This whole forum screams of inferiority complex.

I posted the original acceptance list, said I would return with the final matriculation list and did. Not trying to compare Bullis to any other school. I have a graduating senior who has been very happy there, is quirky, not a spoiled rich kid (was a stretch for us to send them), and they found good friends and got a great education.

Glad your kid liked Bullis but nobody asked for the list.

Where is the final matriculation list?

And nobody asked for your negative input.

Bullis grade inflation is through the roof - the fact is kids are not as academically gifted but they are better athletes. So no surprise grade inflation plus athletes= some good colleges. The real problem is that the Big 3 schools need to wake up and deal with the grade deflation that is hurting Sidwell kids in this new common app world

Based on 2023 college admissions results, Sidwell seniors are not suffering “in this new common app world.” Eighty percent of Sidwell’s ~125 seniors have posted on Instagram. At least eighteen (18) Sidwell seniors are heading to MIT or Ivies (including Barnard). For the misinformed: Barnard is one of four undergraduate colleges of Columbia University, so I will not debate anyone on the college’s status. Argue with yourself.

On the other hand, Bullis has between 130-140 students, but the school only has 9 binding/committed Ivy admits (including Barnard). There were only 12 non-binding Ivy admits, out of 508 total non-binding admissions. Unless Bullis has 500+ seniors (which it doesn’t), that’s quite unimpressive. I guarantee those 12 non-binding admits belong to no more than 4 students. So, a total of ~13 students admitted to Ivies/equivalents is no match for Sidwell’s 18+ (because 25 Sidwell students still haven’t posted).

Comparing Sidwell and Bullis is like comparing apples and tires. There is simply no comparison. However, Bullis parents can dream…

I knew it! I predicted that no more than 13 Bullis students were attending Ivies, including Barnard (+MIT), and exactly 13 students are attending those schools.

Sidwell has fewer students, but is sending more students (>18) to those colleges.

A fairer metric would be top 20 schools because certain majors warrant not going to an ivy just for the sake of going to an ivy.

Sidwell wins based on that metric as well.

right - there is zero shame detriment to going to Duke, Vandy or Northwester vs. Dartmouth, Penn or Cornell. at all

Yes, they did ask for the list. In the place where I posted all the school's kids were accepted to. People claimed that it was the same kid, being accepted to multiple schools, and they wanted to see the final list. So I posted it

Yes. Multiple people wanted the list. I like that the school is being transparent. This type of info should not be tough to find. Thank you for posting it.

Did Sidwell post the matriculation data?

No, but 101/125 2023 Sidwell grads have posted their college destinations. That should be good enough for now.

Yeesh. Someone seems awfully defensive. 😬

This is where Bullis grads are going to college. Many of the the Colleges are the best in the country/world.

Is Bullis the new Sidwell prestige-wise?

Omg obviously posted by someone at Bullis in communications and marketing. Please stop. So transparent.

That is not the same as the school being transparent.

This is all that really matters. Glad Bullis was a great fit for your child academically and socially. That's really what we all want for our kids in the end.

I don't understand all the negativity on this board. What is the need to post a negative comment about a school someone else is happy with? Just leave it alone and keep scrolling. Why the need to be ugly about it?

The private school forum is nothing but ultra-defensive people coping and seething. Everyone is rushing to prove their superiority but actually revealing themselves to be fools.
