+1 I noticed that too

Before, everyone who was excited about it was saying it was going to do well. It did well. Should we come back here to gloat?

I’m concerned for anyone (for or against) writing think pieces about it though. It was exactly what I expected and I loved it. I’ll watch it again when it comes out on Max. But beyond that, I’ve moved on. It’s just not that deep.

I think Mattel played their mea culpa moment well and turned it to their advantage. Why wouldn’t they or shouldn’t they? I also think the movie made fun at the entire women movement and did it well. It was funny because everything was just a bit much.

Should be “woke movement”- not women’s movement

Actually they spent a lot of time mocking the women’s movement too, so you were right about that.

What is the woke movement?

They didn’t actually apologize for anything, but instead played their audiences for fools. They are laughing all the way to the bank for sure.

What is Mattel supposed to be apologizing for? I haven’t played with Barbie in decades and haven’t been following any recent drama involving Mattel.

Is this movie going to be a bad idea for someone with or recovering from an eating disorder? Quick feedback much appreciated.

Honestly, I wouldn’t take someone in that position.

Idk. The PP above said this was Mattel’s mea culpa moment, presumably because that PP sees an apology somewhere. Of course there is no apology anywhere.

Wouldn't something like your mother or other female authority figure saying that "she looks fat in an outfit" be more of a trigger for an eating disorder than a Barbie movie?

I really don't see how a doll could be given such a ridiculous level of importance and status in a human being's life.

I was a Tiffany Taylor doll fan, though. I liked how Tiffany's head could be dialed around to go from blonde to brunette.

Sorry, it was not good. It may have a good opening weekend but I don’t think it will last too long.

I thought it was great. I laughed out loud with the rest of the audience members throughout the film.

Wondering where this poster is right now.

$155 million and counting in the first weekend.

When you get a rave review from the notoriously hard to please New Yorker film critic, and you take in $155 in like two days, you’re doing pretty okay as a filmmaker.
