Ya not sure why they aren't open to ensuring all children have a fair shot at these programs not just those from alludent areas. |
The Coalition would have you believe it’s a far bigger group being stereotyped or discriminated against than actually is. |
| There’s not a lot of them so let’s stereotype and discriminate against them. Doesn’t seem like a great justification. |
Doesn't sound like anyone is stereotyping or discriminating against anyone. Simply stating that they're a small group seems like a fair observation. My biggest gripe is that they're promoting a system that is easily gamed and favors those with privilege and resources. Maybe people are always going to insist on a system that gives them an unfair advantage over others and this will wind up a random lottery since people couldn't find a reasonable solution. |
You talk about fairness, but you've never lived the injustice of being a gifted kid who's told they should be happy in gen ed. You talk about unfair advantages yet you support a system where the rules were changed to actively exclude Asian students based on their race. You complain about privilege and resources yet you deny the possibility that metrics which can't easily be gamed - like AMC performance - should factor in. You openly promote bigotry (as confirmed in court) yet you gripe about people showing their "true colors". You allude to social justice, yet you lean on the unjust social engineering trope that the people with legitimate concerns only represent a "small group". What's wrong with you? |
well said...cynical weaponization of equity for self serving reasons. |
MIT has been forced to agree with the obvious. |
I mean it's ridiculous at this point. Everyone's seen the emails proving the racist motives, yet Brabrand's agitators are still out here pretending they care about fairness. People have been on here explaining exactly why students who are elite in math should be important to TJ, yet these agitators still act like its nothing. |
Oh, stop. This was never envisioned as a fair system. It was a system put in place by an exceptionally privileged white man, and which makes favoritism a bigger factor in the admissions process. Moreover, this privileged man intentionally deceived the school board into passing this, meaning they wouldn't have had the chance to use their most objective informed decision-making capabilities. |
This may be the most entitled post I’ve ever read on DCUM. And that’s a VERY high bar. Shame on you. |
The sad part is that these “reformers” claim the moral high ground - somehow this is being done to help the under-privileged. It is just pork barrel politics. These progressives are doing such disservice to the Democrats. They think it is a “small group” that is agitated and vocal on these pages. They don’t know how much they have alienated the Asian American community. But then they underestimated the impact of education issues at the gubernatorial election. |
Lol. Shame on those that use “equity” to discriminate against a successful hard working minority. This was the tried and tested approach to discriminate against the Jewish folks when they got too successful. It won’t work again |
It may not be a small group that is agitated and vocal, but it is a small group that is in any way negatively impacted. I am certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that many of the folks whom the Coalition has conscripted into their unholy alliance actually stand to benefit from the same policy that they’re erroneously calling “racist”. The largest racial group to benefit from the experience factors was - guess who? - ASIANS. |
You hope to hoodwink the Asians by selling this lie at the hustings. Not gonna fly. Dems beware. |
At the hustings? |
