I think she wasn't attracted to Kyle, physically. I think she was hiding behind the "being a Christian is SO important to me" because she did things I certainly don't associate at ALL with being a good Christian. She takes a lot of pride in her looks, and being physically admired. My guess is she thought she was coming off great and wanted to continue that. Highly doubt she realized how awful she came across during the filming, but realized it after the show aired and she could see herself, based on how much crow she ate at the reunion.

I recall seeing at least two larger women in the pods. (I do think there is fault to be found for the lack of fat men. I saw one slightly heavier Indian guy, and the rest were sized Average-to-Roid City (Shayne).) And can we really fault the show if the overweight women didn't make it to the next stages? Show me a story about one of the plus sized women getting engaged and the show not selecting them for filming, and then I'll agree with you.

I've been thinking about this, and wonder if there's an insecurity or defensiveness or vibe that overweight people unknowingly put off because of their weight, and it's off putting enough that they don't match? Maybe it's something so ingrained that even knowing they're not being judged on their looks doesn't overcome it.

I’ve seen them hanging out with Mal on their SM. They may not be as close as the others but she is def not excluded like Shake.

Interesting. I was thinking that maybe they disclosed their weight issue in the pods in order to avoid a humiliating reaction at a future reveal, and that was why the men might not have gone for them.

That's why I use the word actors loosely. Maybe he does improv on the weekends or something or he was a theatre major with the casting director before vet school... But he was hired to be there, as opposed to the others who went through a regular casting process looking to be on the show. They had him be charming in the pods, which we didn't see bc of editing, just enough to get him to find someone who would say yes. And Shayna, "pretty" and planted to act super flirty to find a match.

He is also a "DJ." I am sure he plays sh*tty music.

He wasn't THAT charming in the pods. His first interactions they showed with Deepti I was like "run, woman!" and I thought she reacted that way too - was surprised when they got together, thought he was showing growth, but no. I totally believe he auditioned because he reminds me of a family member.
