I love it. So soft, light, warm, looks good. I have a few very old cashmere sweaters from the Bloomingdale's store brand that have worn amazingly well, and are just now getting thinness or holes in the elbows.
All the other ones I have tried in the last couple of years have been crap. Banana Republic, Land's End. They pill and look terrible after one season. Don't get me started about the crap merino wool sweaters I and my DH have from Banana. $70 or more and they are utterly useless after only a few wearings! Pilled and stretched. I don't mind spending if I know a sweater will last. Please cashmere experts, recommend! Thanks. |

I'm so glad you posted this! I'd like to know too. I can tell you where not to buy cashmere - Jcrew. Lasted one season.
My old Neiman Marcus label cashmere is worn and I'm not sure about the new stuff. |
| Agnona. Not cheap, but doesn't pill and lasts years. |
| I have a cashmere sweater from Tory Burch from a couple of seasons ago that, despite a LOT of wear, still has not started to pill. J. Crew ones seem to pill within weeks. |
| I was going to refer you to my old favorite Bloomies "Aqua" sweater, but I see we have the same problem! |
| They all pill eventually. Get one of those little handheld machines that mows off the pills. Makes your sweaters look brand new! |
NOT the lord and Taylor brand that's for sure, didn't even last one season
|
My nicest cashmere sweaters have not pilled after 20 years of heavy use (Agnona poster). I also use the sweater shaver on sweaters that do pill, but be careful- they can chew a hole in a sweater in a heartbeat. |

My old high-quality cashmere sweaters have never pilled. My husband has an old Saks one that he wore through both elbows after 8 years, no pilling.
I think it may have to do with single-ply cashmere vs. double-ply. pp, where can I find this de-pilling machine, and about how much does it cost? Thanks for this suggestion. I got a short-sleeved Lands End last year, during their "40% off one item" sale. It has pilled big time, across the boobs. Not a good look. |
I think it depends on the brand when it comes to how long it will take before it pills. My NM sweaters are 15 years old and have just worn out. My jcrew sweater is just one season old. I'd like to find another brand that won't pill for years to come. I also tried one of those little machines and it tore a hole in a wool sweater. |

Holy cow I just googled the Agnona sweaters a pp mentioned. Gorgeous, but many hundreds even for used ones. I think I would go max $250 for a new good one that I loved. I would hope to get a lifetime of wear out of it.
We have known people to travel to Mongolia on vacation, came back with suitcases of cashmere, about $50 a sweater. |

White and Warren
Neiman Marcus label Not J Crew!!!!! |
Are they all from Agnona? Are there other brands you've tried that wear well? |
The best Cashmere (2-ply) comes from Scotland. Most cashmere here in the US comes from Asia and is a cheaper 1-ply version. Although Scottish cashmere is more expensive, in the long run it's worth it. Here's a link. There are many more. Google 'scotland' 'cashmere' http://www.isleofskyecashmere.com/Our-Cashmere-Isle-of-Skye-Cashmere-Sweaters-s/5.htm |
| Brora from Scotland is the best. You also have to be careful how you wash cashmere. |
