Cashmere that won't pill

I have not have good luck with the Aqua brand from Bloomie's. Generally, I think you have to spend a lot of money to get good quality cashmere.

a sweater comb is a wonderful tool that won't shave holes into your sweater:

I think mine came from the Container Store, but I don't see it on their site right now.

Longer fiber cashmere will pill less than cheaper, short cashmere. Not sure how easy it is to tell the difference, especially online. Personally, I have had better luck with Lands End than Lord and Taylor and J. Crew. My favorite was from Marshall Field's Men's Store (originally my dad's until someone shrank it?). I have my fingers crossed that my new Halogen (Nordstom) sweater will hold up well, but it is so fluffy (and affordable) that I have my doubts.

My best was an Anne Klein sweater from Saks. But the moths got to it . . .

I had some great one's from Saks' store brand that were fabulous for years. No pilling, rogue moth. Lately I've been getting Lands End but have to treat them as disposable - I can wear them for one or two seasons, max, before they're too pilly to wear.

No luck with Banana Republic either.

I have a Theory cashmere sweater going on 3 years old, and no pills yet. It's not super heavy in my rotation though, so I'm not sure it's stood the test of time.

AutumnCashmere or TSE
Sometimes Sierra Trading Post & Nordstrom Rack carry them at deep discounts.

Have you tried using a Lilly Brush on pills? It works great on my cashmere from J Crew, Ralph Lauren and Pure Cashmere. My sweaters look brand new after I use it on them. [/url]http://lillybrush.com/

My Land's End cashmere has held up pretty well. Maybe not top of the iine, but a good compromise if you can't afford the really expensive ones (I cannot).

I second the person whom mentioned the little handheld electric razor thing for pills. It definitely helps.

It works on thick sweaters but not very well on the thin soft cashmere. I just made a hole on my Vince cashmere cardigan.

I spent a lot on a black Vince cashmere sweater that's now pilling like crazy 2 months in.....anything to do about it? Does dry cleaning help at all?

Anonymous wrote:My old high-quality cashmere sweaters have never pilled. My husband has an old Saks one that he wore through both elbows after 8 years, no pilling.

I think it may have to do with single-ply cashmere vs. double-ply.

pp, where can I find this de-pilling machine, and about how much does it cost? Thanks for this suggestion.

I got a short-sleeved Lands End last year, during their "40% off one item" sale. It has pilled big time, across the boobs. Not a good look.

YOu can also freeze the clothes (sweater, dress, etc) inside a ziploc bag, and after is is kid of "hard" you shave the pills off.

I haven't had luck with Halogen. But I have had luck with Vince and Joie. Both are expensive, but the quality is worth it.

Not Talbots either.
