It gets even better. I don’t know how I missed this but her parents retired to Spain in 2011. Around the year she met Alex!!!! So this fake accent was achieved spending spring break and make a few weeks of summer vacation in Mallorca? Where it’s so touristy that everyone speaks English?? I am dying. DYING!!! I thought her parents moved there like 20 years ago. This is incredible. Amazing!! I’m going to claim Australian citizenship because I’ve been there 5 times and used to watch a lot of crocodile Dundee movies growing up.

And she’s not as fluent as she claims. I read an article where even Spanish speakers said they noticed something about her. They said when she’d “speak Spanish” it was always in present tense and never in past or future tense. From a language standpoint, that’s a major red flag.

The fact that she appears to speak Spanish at a very basic level is the biggest red flag. If she were even remotely authentic, she'd put a video on Instagram in Spanish. She can't. She speaks like someone who studied for a few years in high school (although her accent is pretty good). Her claim that she occasionally has an accent in English when she has been speaking a lot of Spanish is ludicrous. Given there is nothing on the internet showing her speaking fluently, I doubt she is able to hold a meaningful conversation in the language.

This is it exactly. I lived in Italy for two years and I have a really great accent, because I grew up speaking French and Spanish. I’m just really good at accents. People always talk about how great my Italian is, but it isn’t. I can only speak in the present tense and my vocabulary is limited compared to French and Spanish. The words and sentences I speak, sound fantastic and my northern Italian accent is spot on. Anyone can fake it with a few words. I haven’t seen a single interview with her speaking with the Spanish media in Spanish at length.

I just looked at her IG for the first time. It's a wild ride. She posted a picture where she broke her leg and (of course) wasn't wearing pants because why wear pants when you can wear underwear?

DP I'm not going to spend time finding the article or quotes, but Sophia's son has made fun of how much thicker her accent got after her fame. I think she joked about him teasing her, even. I think it was on Ellen or the View - some type of interview talk show.
